Yes, I remember Medieval Lords. It was and is a great game. I still play it every now and then. I keep an older computer to play the four great games from yesteryear. Medieval Lords really keeps me alert as your dynasty can quickly fall apart. (Being Emperor of the HRE is tough)
There is another game that remains the best game about the rise and fall of the Roman Empire: Annals of Rome, from the 1980s, complete with CGA graphics. There has never been another game that captured the scope and feeling of building, defending, worrying about disloyalty, rebellions, and fall of the Empire. I would dearly love to see Paradox games take on the challenge of a Roman Empire game, from the early republic to the fall and maybe somewhat beyond.
Oh, the third classic game is the sword of Aragon. I keep my old computer around, just to play them.

Medieval Lords!

Great game... I spent MANY MANY hours with that one. Anyone else remember cringing when you had a great king replaced by a moron?

I loved EU2 because it was much like Medieval Lords, but with great graphics and more depth.

Crusader Kings is the game I've been waiting for for, well, forever... A true simulation of the feudal system...

PLEASE get here soon!

Sword of the Samurai was a great game but the game CK most reminds me of is an online RPG called The Hundred Years War. Just like CK you would play a nobleman (either French or English with some Imperials thrown in also.) You had to find a wife and have kids, go around getting people to agree to work for you etc. It was a great game that I think has declined a bit in quality and membership.
