I don't think it is such an impossible thing. A text-based equivalent has been running for a decade, now: The Hundred Years War (www.hyw.com). I played it (and was an admin, too) back in the days when it was hosted by AOL. Like CK, there are hundreds of dynasties, which are perpetuated through marriage and children. Like CK, there are fiefs and encompassing rules of inheritance. Granted, HYW is focused entirely upon England, France, a few rudimentary fiefs for Italy and northern Iberia, and the faintest sliver of the Holy Roman Empire, but the -mechanics- of a grand strategy game based around individual characters and dynasties are quite similar. And again, it's purely text-based. I've no idea how many people play it anymore, but back in its prime, the game was quite popular. A CK Online would be glorious, and I'd be one of the first to sign up. I would also pour a great deal of money into it, if some equivalent of an Item Shop (to purchase more desirable prospects for spouses, for instance, claims to titles, bonuses to production in fiefs, bonuses for one's armies on the battlefield, etc.) were included.

Well... I do not play any on line games, and that's not going to change. So, thank you, but no.
I would just like a CK2 PC game.

edit: as for an interview: my german is so weak, so I could not understand everything, is there english (aka - modern esperanto) version?

Seconded. On both points. If there is a CK2, as it is starting to look like there will be, I will only buy it if it is SP with a standard Pdox MP setup. And of course once I get my computer upgraded but that's another story.

Same here, no thanks to MMOs.

I don't want a CK-MMO in lieu of CK2. :(

It'd definitely make me pretty sad. I DO want a CK Multiplayer mode though, I think that'd be awesome, and it'd make Crusades/the game in general far more interesting.

However, I want to be able to be Duke/King/Emperor of whatever, and I really didn't power game when I played WoW so that wouldn't be possible in an MMO. Let's face it, unless you log countless hours, and forsake a normal life you're never going to be able to compete with some of the "pros" who frequent these types of games; and they would most certainly be gunning for the King/Duke titles.

It might add a few new dynamics, but ultimately it would detract from a lot of the fun of the game.

But as I said, a multiplayer mode would be awesome.

if ck2 is online so... let it be !
i don't understand people complaining about something that don't exist or on which we don't know even a line : let's PI a chance if it is what they want to do.

i don't think PI will make an online game ala Wow : it isn't their sector : it will be made with PI'the imprint so don't really have to worry about.

we want CK2 ! (even online it should be fun !)

Not a REPLACEMENT for CK2(ANYTHING but that), but possibly an expanded multiplayer.

With more provinces, we may get more Counts. Or, if there aren't any more, a lower rank than that, like a Noble family who you must try and marry to the top against all odds.

Or a serf.

You know, be able to play a situation more hopeless than the first Count to break free from Germany.

Online gestion games have always been a niche even much narrower than paradox's actual niche, and they have always failed. First, it would totaly betray the spirit of CK, and two, only a few hardcore players would play it in a long distance. See already how multiplayer sessions of EU3 are totally changing the game from it's solo richness. I mean ok, a multi session can be fun, but certainly not an online permanent one. You will just lose the solo players and the game will die by itself in less than two years. As every online gestion games i've seen so far since 10 years...

I reckon that the idea is nice, but it schould be a different game then CK. Ofcourse the setting can be medieval. And ofcourse, text based is NOT DONE! I mean, you should stand out from the crowd.

I reckon, people should be able to get 'jobs' as well. On the fields, as farmer to produce food, and ofcourse different ''upgrades''. The forest, that is again with different ''upgrades''. Those upgrades can be like some sort off ''experience gain'' wich is like the technologie increase. Other forms of upgrades can be like, ''building a level 2-3-4-5 building of that type'' all will increase output, or decrease upkeep costs. (ofcourse there are heaps of other buildings)
For a duchy or kingdom it might be beneficial to make a specific county a county for a specific ''resource'' (food, wood, etc.) because it means some sort of specialisation.

Players always tend to make there ''own'' families, so the game should encourage this with features, like marriage, getting children (wich could be actual players) war, (i reckon characters should die!, ofcourse it means you have to start over, an extra thing should be a ''child'' if you have a family you should be able to make a child 'your next playable character'

Well just a quick thought....
