Thank you for the report! Unfortunately, the issue does not reproduce on our end. Can you provide us with more information? Have you tried reinstalling the game?
You've said that there was a message saying that launcher update failed, could you provide a screenshot of that if possible?
Also, we could use the crash report folder of the related session to properly investigate the issue. Please attach the zipped CTD folder here, if possible.
CTD folders can usually be found at: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\crashes
