What platform are you using?
Steam

Do you have mods enabled? No

Have you tried verifying your game files (Steam only)?
Yes

How much "pain" is this causing you?

Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
I got a ransom offer for a prisoner. It says they'll pay 300 gold. Great, I accept. The prisoner is released...and I don't get 300 gold. Not even close. Then I notice that this is happening all the time.

Can we PLEASE get accurate ransom amounts? Either pay it in full or show the amount they're actually going to pay because this is REALLY annoying and has been a problem since day 1.

Please explain how to reproduce the issue

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?

I have attached a save game
No

Hi,

Same problem here. I get ransom offers for prisoners and the amounts are not being credited into my account. I lost couple of thousands because of this bug. Need a fix urgently!

As I understand it, you're not losing anything (and in fact may be gaining), but I'm not sure what the official design is.

What's going on is the "Golden Obligations" perk messes with the offers for ransom, inflating them. If the payer can pay the inflated price, they pay the full amount- the full *intended* amount ( https://ck3.paradoxwikis.com/Court#Ransom ). Random people shouldn't be worth 100s of gold, but they appear to be.

The first catch is, if they can't pay the overinflated, false amount, they instead pay all their money. So if a prisoner is labelled as worth 200, but their lord only has 100 gold, I get 100, even if that dude is just a rando courtier worth 10. If the same lord had the full 200, he pays that 10 instead (AKA the full amount).

The second catch is- you have golden obligations. So even if they fix the price of ransom, they need to rethink the value. You can sometimes release prisoners for hooks on either themselves or their lords, which will yield better results, monetarily, making ransom a dead option. This is why I said I'm not sure of the official design, because I don't know how they can resolve it, since a hook should have significant value, but a courtier prisoner should not.

I had same problem and I'm positive it's because of the perk golden obligations being activated.

I found a workaround to collect all 300, everytime.

Instead of choosing 300 and ransom, choose favor and then it will pop up on the "You can demand payments" list and then you can collect the 300 when they have the full 300 to give.

You are most welcome.
