Short summary of your issue Patch has stopped the game from starting.

Game Version 1.1.2

What OS are you playing on?
Windows

What platform are you using?
Paradox Launcher

Do you have mods enabled? No

Have you tried verifying your game files (Steam only)?
Yes

How much "pain" is this causing you?
10

Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
After the update 1.1.0 the game has never launched again, I had over 80 hours played I would say on the base game and had about 2 or 3 random crashes in all of that and no trouble starting the game. After the patch it has never worked again. I was playing it the same day the problem happened so I know it was the patch. I've tried reinstalling twice, validating files, checking admin privaleges, updating drivers, unplugging Internet, removing settings file. nothing. Also anytime I try and upload the crash report it says the upload failed.

Please explain how to reproduce the issue
Just try and start the game.

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
Just try to start the game on 1.1.2

I have attached a save game
No

Hey,

Thanks for your report - we're already aware that some users are having this issue and are tracking it on our internal bug database. In the meantime, I've pasted a few potential workarounds below in case one of them might help you. Please do note that these workarounds are not designed to specifically fix your issue and may not work at all, I'm only posting it to highlight a few workarounds that other users have had success with while we're looking into your issue on our side.

#Potential Workaround 1
Roll back the game on the previous version 1.0.3 - note this only works for Steam & Paradox Launcer users

#Potential Workaround 2
Either disable the SSAO option in the menu or disabling GPU Overclocking if that's enabled.
In this instance, since you're not able to access the main menu, you can disable the SSAO option through the pdx_settings.txt:
  1. Navigate to C:\Users[user]\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III
  2. Open pdx_settings.txt in a text editor
  3. In the file there is a section "portraits_ssao", the enabled parameter should be set to no- it should look like this:
    "portraits_ssao"={
    version=0
    enabled=no
    }

  4. Save the changes to the file
#Potential Workaround 3
Ensure that your antivirus/ransomware isn't blocking the title, you may have to do this after the new patch.

Finally, make sure you've updated your GPU drivers!

Cheers,
Cederstronk

with steam and paradow launcher it is possible to revert to 1.0.3

Paradow launcher.
- open it.
- select CK3
- settings.
- pick 1.0.3 and click on "update"

Steam Launcher

- open steam.
- right click on CK3 in game library.
- properties
- beta.
- select version.

Note that both option will start a download you will have to complete in order to play :D
BTW : my game doesn't work too. I'm kinda pissed to buy a game that crashs after a few games thanks to an update.
So.... I bought a new computer. Will see if the game still crashes or not.

I have the game on game pass so I can't revert versions.

I've tryed evertyhing on my end to try to make the game work again.
Re-installed it 3 times from steam.
Installed paradow launcher to install it again from there.
Updated everything I could find.

I've been waiting since theday of the fucking patch to play again.
Now.... I'm waiting for my new computer to arrive and if it still doesn't work I think I'm gonna ask for a refund.

Does it crash or does it stop responding forcing you to forcefully shutdown the game?

I was getting the "stopped responding" and to me, unplugging and reinserting my USB input devices (mouse, keyboard, etc.) seems to have fixed it. Worth a mention.
