Short summary of your issue
Massive lag spikes for unknown reason

Game Version
Azure (1.4.4)

What OS are you playing on?
Windows

What platform are you using?
Steam

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Have you tried verifying your game files (Steam only)?
No

How much "pain" is this causing you?
8

Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
When you play the game you get a massive lag spike. Day timer is frozen as it tries to proccess something. It takes around 15-30 seconds for it to finish doing it and then it continues to play normally. Basically means you can't play the game anymore. You get this lag spike every couple of months or so. My computer is powerful enough and I shouldn't be getting this issue.

Please explain how to reproduce the issue
Just unpause the game and let it play for a bit and you will get the lag spike

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
I'm not sure what causes it but i have a few guesses. First of all could be dynasty members as I have over 5k of them. But I don't think that in itself is the reason as the game runs pretty fast when it's not in a lag spike. It could also be something to do with the grand rite. If it's not that then it could also be witch coven witchcraft introduction.
Seems like there's some poorly optimised process running that has to check througha bunch of stuff and slowing down the game. I noticed when game runs normally it uses up around 30-50% of my system resources, but when it gets into a lag spike it uses only 13% or so cpu which could probably suggest that it's not capable of using any more.

I have attached a save game
Yes

The problem still persists.
My workaround is commenting out #House is always invited block in game/common/activities/00_activity_witch_ritual.txt.
This eliminates the lag for me.

It has been previously reported here: forum.paradoxplaza[dot]com/forum/threads/ck-iii-barons-taking-the-grand-rite-decisions-makes-mid-late-game-unplayable.1480464/

Where and how do you do this?

Where and how do you do this?
You navigate to relevant game directory on your disk.
You open the mentioned file in an editor.
You comment out (#) the mentioned codeblock, which is responsible for every family member being considered for invitation.

If you play 1.4.4, there is a mod called reduce "reduce grand rite lag" which offers that fix, if you don't want to temper with the files yourself.
Good tip, will try.
edit: the mod works on my 1.5.0.2
