I'm sorry, but Paradox's argument is absurd for me. This is not why I pay for the game and add-ons, so that every next tiny update (example from 1.6.0 to 1.6.0.1) of the game throws the whole progress into the trash. In addition, I start my game - at patch 1.5.1 (26 days ago) , next playing at 1.6.0 without problems for sereval game year, and do not understand why after the update game from 1.6.0 to 1.6.0.1 for next circa 10 years of the game everything was OK and suddenly I fall apart the game on the last day of the year and besides, everything was ok until then. I expect a serious approach from you - the developers.

In addition, yesterday it happened to me that after several crashes at the turn of the year and several loads of the same state of the game, the crash suddenly did not occur and the game continued. And today I have the same problem again at the end of another year. It looks as if some New Year's event (or algorithm) in the game is the cause of the problem

This is stupid, boggles my mind how trivial this seems to be for paradox, CK3 is a game that is meant to be played for long periods of time so how do you expect players to reliably invest their time (like I did) if at every update there's a chance of them losing all their progress with your support being "Oops lol it happens"? And let's not be naïve, the current warning (that I don't even think appeared for me) is not really enough for a game such as CK3 - I repeat: a game designed for long playthroughs - you could least as a minimum effort automatically backup the savefile when you know it's from a different version.

If I change it to 1.5.1.1, I can't load any of my saves and it says that the save was created in a different version
Same. This is BS. This error-but-no-real-solution makes me unable to continue my Ironman-run in India-aera. I don't have time for this shite, I do actually have a life besides, like kids and work and friends and all that stuff. "Hey, why don't you just start a new game and spend hours upon hours to get to a point you've been before" just doesn't cut it for me

Same problem here. After installing 1.6.1 i played for hours without an issue. Suddenly the year end crash occured with the transition from 1180 to 1181. Reverting to 1.5.1.1 is not a solution. Firstly, you can't use the latest savegame. This would set the game hours behind. Secondly, the game worked fine with 1.6.1 till 1180. So it is something Paradox didn't think of and doesn't want to fix right now.

By paying Paradox money for a flavor pack i expect a upwards compatibility for a recent savegame. Hiding behind the argument of new changes is just unprofessional. That's your job guys!

What the hell.. So fun playing Ironman and loosing 300 years of progress. I dont even think i'm gonna open the game anymore if this can't get solved. :/
Playing Ironman is a bad idea in general because of this. I have over 300 ironman hours on CK2 on a run and I would ragequit big time if somethin happened. I don't think I'll ever switch to ironman on CK3. I'd rather have mods

Also, I won't delete old savegames when switching versions. Now there's 76 hours of CK3 down the drain because of this update and my compulsion to keep tidy savefolders.

The "New Year" crash is a massive bummer. Ending my 1st Iron Man run after 2 months on-and-off effort.

I might return to CK3 in the future, but the glitch is ruining my experience for now, sadly.

You start a playthrough. You invest time. This is the game that requires time to complete - lots of it sometimes, if you are playing deep enough. You might be working on it when you get back from work, one hour here, one hour there. You put in 20, 30 hours, you are doing well, things are clicking. You see your empire emerge and your realm grow. You think you just might do well this time.

same issue here i played 200+ had to stop for a while and yesterday i played again, didnt know it was updated, didnt know this will happen, and after maybe 20years ingame time, the game crashed all the time at the same date. To prevent those things to happens, just dont let the game start a savegame with an other gameversion.
Its really frustrating if you play in ironmode. Just dont let it start if its a different gameversion. so those things will not happen. not after maybe 20+ more hours sunddenly it crashes and everything is lost

Hey Guys. I started a new ironmode Game without any mods going (31. of July 2022) on latest Version (1.6.1.2) and I do have same issue on new years eve crashing my game!

So pls! Paradox guys.. dont blame old versions transformations, the problem is occuring no matter what in the newest version!

All my drivers are updated, so is windows!
I reinstalled the game.. i although prayed. But nothing helped.

Go and fix it! I've sent you guys tons of bug reports, almost everytime it crashed.

My sincerly crashes to you

Now you know how paradox games work, they all work like this due to the amount of changes made between patches, set paradox games to not auto update on steam if you think it'll slip your mind

We have investigated the issue. The reason for this CTD is that the save was made in the previous game version (1.5.1.1). As with every release, due to i.e. map and culture changes, loading previous saves will result in multitude of errors, CTDs included.

To revert to the previous game version, please go to Properties of the game on Steam -> Betas -> 1.5.1.1
i also have the same problem. my game Crash also at the turn of the year. new savegame. current version. so the game is not playable. the statement that old saves cause the error is incorrect. otherwise I could play and not have to write. you want to double the prices? repair it immediately or I want my money back.
