Game Version 1.1.3

What OS are you playing on?
Windows

What platform are you using?
Steam

Do you have mods enabled? No

Have you tried verifying your game files (Steam only)?
No

How much "pain" is this causing you?
5

Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
Inherited spiritual head of faith of my new religion. I have no possible heirs due to being spiritual head of faith. Furthermore I cant grant the title to anyone, meaning with the death of my character I will most likely have a game over.

Please explain how to reproduce the issue
Created my own faith based on Catholicism. Chose revocable spiritual clergy.
My most powerful spiritual vasall became new Pope of my religion. He dies after a few days. I suddenly inherit all his titles, including the Papacy. Suddenly I am head of faith, with no possible heir. I cant grant the head of faith title to any vasall, religious or not. (Nothing happens if I chose this option).

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
After testing I think it is a combination of Theocracies changing religion. They become feudal vasalls (even if the new religion has spiritual clergy). Therfore their liege becomes their heir (since they tend to be old and have no children), which includes the head of faith title.

I have attached a save game
Yes

Hello TheEarlyDead!

Thank you for your report!

Unfortunately, this issue does not reproduce on our end. Could we ask for that backup save and the list of Doctrines used to gain this effect?
Save games can usually be found at: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\save games

Hello,

I think I can give you a reproduction:

When you have theocratic vasalls (as in a Prince-Bishop with dutchy), they will turn to feudal vasalls when you create a new religion (and their capital is not a temple building). Before they switch "type" from theocratic to feudal however, one of them (in my game the bishop of Ravenna) will recive the title of head of faith. When the head of faith then dies, the heir (most likely the top ruler) will inherit all titles as if they were feudal.

I have added two savefile backups (before I created religion, and after I became head of faith by inheritance). Just reforming the religion immideatly should result in what I described previously, since the Bishop of Ravenna will get the new head of fatih title (and is sick and will die relatively soon).

Doctrins didnt' matter, I tried it several times (i.E. changing only one tenet to form the new religion), only spiritual head of faith is required (and a count/duke tier theocratic vasall).

In any case, the behavior of theocratic vasalls after conversion is wonky, and should be looked into regardless.
