Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
The game freezes and "Stops responding" for minutes before the game becomes responsive once again.
Please explain how to reproduce the issue
Was playing the game for long time (hours) without issues. Then game stopped responding (windows suggested to end the process) I didn't want to loose my progress so I left it and all of a sudden it started moving again. Played for a few more minutes before it froze again. Waited and again it started responding after a few minutes, decided it'd probably be good to close the game and ironman-save. Tried starting the game and after clicking "play" in the launcher, it took minutes, during which the game appeared as "not responding", before the loading screen showed and the music started. Once in the game, I could play without issues until it again froze.
While the first two in game freezes occured "randomly" (or I didn't notice what triggered it at least), the third time, after the restart, I noted that it happened as I tried to open the Succession tab of the realm window.
While writing this report, the game froze in the background and has been "not responding" for at least 10 minutes now, so I'm gonna kill it.
Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
The game stops responding while the computer remains responsive. I noticed that the music continues playing. During the third freeze, I also looked at task manager and noted that CK3 takes consumes basically no memory (20 MB), no CPU (=<0.5%), no disk and no network.
And I know this is probably unrelated but it was so synchronized I felt like I could probably mention it; During the first freeze, the game unfroze in the background at the same moment i un-muted a stream in chrome. During the third freeze, the game unfroze as a I took a printscreen using Windows+shitft+S snip tool.
I could also mention that the game was doing this "not responding" on launch when I tried to start the game after the 1.1 update for the first time. At that point I did a complete re-install and deletion of Documents/Paradox Interactive, and then the game was still not responding. so I left it for a few days and then started it again, and now it was working, until I ran into the issues explained above.
There is no crash logs since the game never crashes, just stops responding until I ask windows to kill it. I tried to look if there was any cache that was updated around the time when the game started freezing, but can't see any. I zipped the entirity of `Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings III` since I deleted it complety a few days ago, I imagine most of it is relevant. I also checked `C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{my id}1\1158310\remote\save games` and the save file seems outdated, but I attached it anyway
I'll try to reboot my computer, reinstall and deleting the documents folder agian, will report if any of it fixes the problems.
I have attached a save game
Yes
