When my son, who was a knight, died during combat, I received a pop up event stating that he was murdered, not that he died in combat.
Please explain how to reproduce the issue
Have a son who is your knight, bring him in to combat until he dies in battle.
Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
This is referring to the big event pop up that appears in the center of the screen at the moment of death, not the little message in the lower right after the battle finishes.
