Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
My family members massively adopting russian culture.
No matter what person is getting a duchy, few days after, he becoming russian.
I revoking tittle, giving it to another family member, and same again!
I`m playing as Emperor of Rutenia, Volinian culture. Yet its always happening in duchy of Smolensk, Pereyaslavl and Novgorod, also Sarkel.

I want to spread my culture, not to adopt foreign.
Please, fix this

Volhynian rulers automatically become Russian if certain conditions are met. For example, if you reform your religion or become Christian, this process will begin.

Can it be fixed?
I mean, that's absurd, up to 15 century there was no russia, how come there is russians in my realm?
Also, if Kyiv wouldn't fall under mongols invasion, russia would never appear on the map.
In my game, i stopped the Mongols, preserved Kyevan Rus, so how on earth russians appeared?


I don't mind if they would appear in Moscow or Novgorod, but in Pereyaslavl? IRL this lands was always populated by people of Ukrainian nationalities.

I love this game, but such bugs are very disappointing.

It isn't a bug. "Russian" here refers not to the post-Mongol Russians who emerged from Moscow, but to the post-Rurik pre-Mongol population, i.e. all these tribes. And the culture switch represents transition of the East Slavic tribes to a more centralised group after Rurik's descendants conquered the region. In the later start dates the tribal names don't even appear.

  • Ilmenian, Severian, Volhynian merge into Russian when ruler is either:
    • a reformed pagan OR
    • not of East Slavic or Finno-Ugric culture OR
    • already Russian

I posted suggestion about it, but who cares. "Russian" isn't good term for Rus' people (ancestors of Russians, Ukrainians an Belarusians). For most people "Russian" connect to modern Russia, which, as you said, emerged from Moscow much later.

Exactly. It's sounds very discriminating towards other Rus' nations. Belarusians, Ukrainians.
So, it shouldn't be mandatory.
If game wants to make generic name, one wich won't be offensive for others could be rusichi (русичи), but not russians (россияне).
Still, why Slavic cultures can't be preserved? It should be player's choice. We can create custom empires, but we can't create (or keep, like in this case) custom nations? It doesn't make any sense.
Volynian culture still exists irl. As well as many others.

I mean, it's not fun to play like this. I bought DLC, and then asked for refund, because the only thing I do it's chasing across the realm russians who popping up like mushrooms after rain.
I really hope they can fix it, so i can buy dlc and enjoy it
