Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I'm currently playing as William the Conqueror. My last war was against Morcar of York, I tried to revoke his title "Duchy of York" and he declared war at me. Then, a couple of events happened:
I was excommunicated (Ban was lifted, a month later) and Morcar got a peasant rebellion in Hull. Then, Morcar was killed in battle and his only son inherited all titles. A month later, I got 100% warscore, enforced my demands, the son was imprisoned. But suddenly the counties of Westmoreland and Lindsey were independant!
They were former vassals of Morcar, but they are not de jure counties of York.
