Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
The trade map mode is not showing the silk road, and the western protectorates are named as normal duchies. I am assuming these bugs are connected.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
1. Start game
2a. Select trade map mode
2b. Look at Western Protectorates in normal map mode

You need either Horse Lords or Jade Dragon for the silk road

But it used to show the silk road in the trade map, even if I couldn't do anything with it except see where it went. It seems weird that that suddenly changed?

I agree with the OP: looks like a bug and should be in the game even without those DLC.
