Character receives negative events by Pope despite being apart of the first crusade

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
My original character that committed to the crusade died while en route to Jerusalem. My character's son who I immediate assume control over is still apart of the crusade and is leading troops to the Holy Land. However an event pops up by the Pope indicating his disappointment at my lack of participation in the crusade despite actively being apart of it.
Steps to reproduce the issue.
1. Commit character to the first available crusade (might just be any really)
2. Character must die after the crusade begins
3. Successor will continue participation
4. The Pope will eventually contact you about not participating.
Note: This has only been observed once but I can assume that the flags attached to my original character was not carried over to my successor and thus the game assumes I'm not active in the crusade despite being apart of it. If this is a work of design then it can be rather confusing for the player as they might likely assume the successor simply takes over the reigns to this event.
