My current character died, so I took control of his granddaughter via Absolute Cognatic Primogeniture. She was bedridden with cancer when I took control of her. I started a coronation, and since I was Empress, I had to get coronated by the pope, who demanded an excommunication war in exchange. I did so, but I died before the war ended, leaving me in control of her 10 year old daughter, but still in the excommunication war. When I won that war, the coronation concluded as if my original character had never died.
Steps to reproduce the issue.
1) Attempt to get a coronation from the Pope.
2) Start an excommunication war for the coronation.
3) Die.
4) Finish the excommunication war.
