As near as I can tell, the Emir of Barshiluna (Arabid Emirate) declared a holy war and called his ally the Emir of Seville (Atlasid Emirate) into it. However, the Atlasid Emir seems to have been part of a faction pushing a claimant against the Umayyad Emperor, while the Arabid Emir was not. The faction leader declared his war and the Atlasid Emir became a vassal of the revolt, and therefore hostile to the Arabid Emir who remained loyal to the incumbent emperor.
As a result, they fought each other to exhaustion and I curbstomped the winner. Amusing for me, but probably a programming oversight.
Mods are all available in Steam Workshop: "Better Looking Garbs", "High Kings and Consuls", "Holy War Names", "Judaism Spreads", "More Name Changing", "Orange Wikipedia Icon", and "Sensible Crusades". Judaism Spreads and Sensible Crusades affect AI behavior somewhat, but not in regards to factions, alliances, or the Holy War CB.
Steps to reproduce the issue.
Reproducing probably requires a multiplayer game or lots of character switching.
1. Be a vassal of same liege as vassal #2. Form alliance with other vassal.
2. Vassal #2 must be supporter, not leader, of a faction against your shared liege.
3. Declare war on somebody and call vassal #2 into the war.
4. Have vassal #2's faction leader send his ultimatum and go to war.
Vassal #1 and Vassal #2 should now be listed as allies on the warscore dialog and when the diplomacy icon for the war is highlighted, but have their armies be hostile and fight if they occupy the same province.
