One line summary of your issue
AI sends itself bankrupt 3.0

Game Version
3.0

What expansions do you have installed?
All of the above

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
AI sends itself bankrupt, I've been playing CK2 for a long time now, and I remember seeing it every now and then, but it was once in a blue moon and only a few hundred at most.

Since 3.0, I have noticed it a lot more and at higher amounts, my example shows king of france with -800 gold!

Steps to reproduce the issue.
watch any AI kingdom send itself broke, I only play 769 start so no Idea if it happens more or less often at other start dates.

I don't think this is necessarily a bug. I remember some interview of Paradox where they said that it is definitely intended that the AI can make stupid decisions and end up in debt. So the fact that a country is getting into debt is not a bug. It's more of a balance question whether the frequency is too high. It could be a bug if it happens repeatedly across playthroughs, count to emperor tiers and irrespective of the traits of a character.

Could it just be that you just experience confirmation bias? Before 3.0 it could have happened in the same frequency but not to characters you cared about. Now it potentially happens more often to characters you frequently look at and hence the impression that the frequency has dramatically increased.

Well technically it's probably not a bug but I do think it's worth looking into for balancing reasons.
I have about 1300 hours of ck2 gameplay and at least 50 since holy fury. I play multiplayer with a mate that has about the same amount of hours and we both have come to the conclusion that it seems to be happening more often and at higher amounts, but it is possible that maybe it has always happened that much and we didn't notice it before? Or that it's just chance? Maybe the next 50 hours of gameplay it will hardly happen?

I think it's worth posting and seeing if anyone else, at least the fans that go through the forums, have noticed the same thing.

Possible the devs could run a test on a older version of the game that counts how often rulers went into debt and the medium amount, then run the same test on 3.0 and see how varied the statistics are.

2-3 lost offensive wars triggered by Charlemagne eventchain and -800 comes quickly. all Charlemagne failures comes with a broke Charlie :)
some of the "stupid" wars are triggered by Charlemagne eventchain, so risk of him beeing broke is extended!
