Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
So I noticed this issue as a bystander where two AI kingdoms where having a war. Basically the Emir of Tunis was doing a prepared invasion of Italy. I was not playing either, but I tracked the war as I was planning to conquer some land from Italy once their armies where weakened by the invader. The invasion looked doomed to fail due to Italy being a lot stronger and having many other nations come to their aid. However in the Italy was conquered because the biggest part of their army simply stood completely still up in northern italy while only some small armier and some small allied armies actually went south to fight the invaders. I even tried to quit the game and reload to see if I could get the army to start moving.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Unfortunately I have no way of reliably reproducing this. Since I am playing ironman there are no old save games to go back to.

I saw something similar to this happen in a recent game, and I came to the conclusion that it was a result of that idle stack waiting for ships to arrive so that it could go siege the other side's capital. During my Great Holy War against Francia, a 10k+ Francian stack was just idle in the middle of Francia for well over a year, until enough ships arrived that it finally could be ferried over to my capital in England while my own stack was able to smash a nearby Francian stack and get some sieges done. Sadly, also Ironman so I have no saves, but it sounds similar on account on both being attacked by an overseas enemy.

I've definitely benefited from this before. In my most recent playthrough I was India attacking a bordering super-Byzantium (an Abbasid religious cult for Orthodox very quickly converted the emir controlling Jerusalem to Orthodox and got the Orthodox holy order unlocked in the 800s after which the ERE went bananas and conquered all of Persia while I was getting India under control) and I messed up and lost half my army in a battle. I had nowhere near enough troops to survive against the ERE, but they took all their doomstacks and just parked them in place for the rest of the war... I was able to siege down the eastern half of Persia with no resistance though they could have squashed me in no time. They got other borders nibbled at too with no reaction.

Eventually it resolved itself (no clue how) and they proceeded to conquer about everything north of them and put up something of a fight while I ejected them from the Middle East. It's pretty common, if you check a faltering huge empire in a war and they have a huge number of troops relative to their opponent they're usually suffering from this.

Yo,

Thanks for the headsup. We've been looking at several AI problems recently, and it's not impossible what you had has been fixed internally already. Sadly, without a save, we can't really do much about it, since the AI going cray-cray is generally dependent on a bunch of factors :/

If you get AI weirdness in the future, don't hesitate to make a save at that moment and report it to us here right then.

Cheers

Here, I have a save where you can see this. Look at the Shia Caliph's 18k doomstack sitting still in the coastal county, not going after my smaller nearby stacks or sieging my nearby counties. I'm pretty sure he's waiting for ships because my capital is on an island (Scootra) but he doesn't have enough ships to actually carry that 18k stack there. He did break off a smaller (1.5k) stack and try to siege back the holding I took, but most of his army is just sitting there patiently waiting for Godot.

Awesome, thanks for the save !

I've checked it out with our internal version, and it seems the boiz are hunting-killing properly now, or at least going to strategic objectives instead of just standing still. Not sure whether the AI changes that improved this behaviour will make it for the patch or not, but at least it's fixed internally

Cheers

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but this seems related to the behaviour of my vassals in this game. They just board ships and stay in the Mediterranean while the enemy sieges their holdings. Could you take a look at this game and see if Andalusia changes its behaviour?
