I was playing as king of Ireland (had started at charlemagne bookmark) and the germanic king of saxony declared a prepared invasion of Pictland. A bunch of states in the british isles joined on the pictish side and completely outnumber about 12k to 4.5k the saxons. The allied troops moved to the county of teviotdale, all 12 thousand of them and stayed there. The saxon army of only 4.5k then proceeded to siege and take several counties and were on the verge of winning until I joined the war as Ireland and at great cost of men and ducats repelled them slowly retaking the counties they took. The entire time the allied doomstack remained in the one county doing nothing, they didn't move when I battled the saxons, sieged their taken counties or when more of them landed. A few of the welsh troops in the doomstack left and joined me leaving over 10k still just standing there for the duration of the war.
Second example is with crusades, the cohesion is awful. I am fighting a battle of 9k crusaders against 12k enemies (I rushed my troops in to help another army) and there's 14k crusader army in a county bordering the one where the battle is taking place. The 14k do nothing but stay in their county as this battle rages right next to them and is lost by us. This happens all the time with the crusades, smaller forces abandoned by bigger ones to be destroyed, bigger forces not bothering with trying to attack the enemy.
As you can imagine this is a huge huge pain in the behind.
