Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
As a catholic demanding a religious conversion of a bishop (landed priest in tempel) ends in the bishop converting but also being replaced by another character.
Tested with catholic lieges on orthodox and muslim 'bishops'.

Also tested reverse with a muslim liege on catholic and orthodox bishops and there the bishop does NOT get replaced.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Any catholic ruler with a non-catholic (at leats orthodox and muslim) bishop, who has good enough relations of course to enact the conversion.
Example: HRE emperor in 1066 and take county Prusa with console command.

Use diplomatic option" Demand Religious Conversion".
Bishop converts , but also gets replaced by another character.

This happened in my ERE game as well when I abandoned Ikonoclasm heracy.
Good to know.

Though.. It was no heracy any more so I don't know why I had the option..

That is a historical based decison (limited to before 900), but the text also still makes sense if you want to renounce it, as the character will still see it as a heresy,
no matter what game mechanics say. ;) So makes sense RP wise.

Makes sense :) Thanks! I didn't spot if there were any direct differencies in the decision from the regular "renounce heracy" decision, except it beeing there at all.

.... But it was quite a few popup's for each and every bishop in the entire ERE realm was replaced. It does not seem they even got the chanse to convert, they were all gone when their direct liege decided to follow. Which all(far too many!!) did! I think fewer should follow from a mainstream to a heracy than the opposite, right?

I don't think that the replacing is intended at all and a bug no matter what kind religion changes take place.
At least it's completely new by my experience and i don't recall having read anyting about something like that in dev diaries or patch logs.

I also had similar problem:

I'm playing a Buddhist, trying to convert a Hindu holy site to Buddhism with my chaplain, but what happens is that he converted the holy sites holy (the one with Hindu sign) temple's priest to Buddhism, the priest got kicked out, a new Hindu priest replacing him. This repeated like 5 times in a row, even though the county has many other conversion targets.

Though I am not sure is this some new feature or a bug.

P.s. Latest version, checksum ONDO, no mods, all DLC enabled.

I'm quite sure this behavior was observed when I demanded conversion of a Nestorian bishop playing as a Zoroastrian.
