I don't think any of the issues I am reporting are intentional design choices, but unintended results of design choices. I am not sure they will be seen as "bugs" but I don't think they are intended and they create a negative game experience.

I know that normally the mercenaries get hired into the nearest county unoccupied by enemy forces so I can only assume that what happened to me was a bug.

When the capital is on an island county, of which there are a few in the game, than mercenaries will not hire into any other county. Meaning if there is an enemy army on that county, the mercenaries will still be hired there, which will result in immediate combat and the death of the mercenaries as they can not retreat and have no morale.

I am not particularly found of the 0 morale for mercenaries either, and think it should be 50% at start, but understand that is likely an intentional design. I don't think it is intentional that they spawn into enemy armies though.

This bug is frustrating as I like to play the island counties, but now I can't because once even a small army invades i am blocked from hiring any mercenaries.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Play any island county and hire mercenaries when there is an enemy force present

Hello,

This is working as designed as far as I can tell, if you have no counties apart from an island, there is no where else where your Mercenaries could spawn.

Thank you for your report,

Dan

No...that isn't what I said. I said if the capital is on an island county mercenaries will always spawn there even if there is an enemy army there. It does not matter how many other counties I control. In the most recent game I played I had 15 or so other counties, but because the capital was on an island, that was the only county the game would spawn them in on, even when the county had an enemy army present.

Edit: Since this post was marked as resolved when it clearly isn't, does that mean I need to create a new post?
