[2.8.1.1] Bektashi younger son became heir

Sword of Islam

No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I'm playing as a Norse Sunni Emperor. My younger son joined the Bektashi Order. My eldest is alive. All of a sudden, my younger son became my new heir (without my older son dying).

This is weird, because he's in the Bektashi and because he's younger. This is the second time this has happened to me in this playthrough.

The only thing I can think of is that my Bektashi son became the head of the Bektashis.

This is annoying on so many levels - my eldest son is a genius with great stats and plenty of offspring, my Bektashi son is now Persian in culture (which means no raiding), and he's not able to marry.

Steps to reproduce the issue.

Hey guys,

This happened to me for the THIRD TIME in a single campaign. Junior son joins Bektashi, becomes head of Bektashi and suddenly becomes the heir. He's supposed to be disinherited, but somehow gets priority over eldest son.

Hey Dan,

Sorry - I was playing ironman and I didn't preserve those saves as I kept playing.

But I can tell you that for sure what happens is that if one of your sons becomes the head of the Bektashis, he becomes your heir, regardless of age.
