I just purchased CK + DV (ie CK complete). I took a quick look around the forum stickies & FAQs, but could find no clear thread regarding the install order of the game.
Also, I think a sticky on the main page regarding the topic would be most useful. If only because talk of CK2 is just beginning to pick up and will likely draw new customers to buy & try the older CK first.
OK, so here we go:
1) Download & Install Crusader Kings.exe from GamersGate. It should come patched to v1.5.
2) This means you DO NOT need to get v1.5 separately from the Paradox support forums.
2) DO NOT download reg_fix.zip from GamersGate. It is not required, as everything works perfectly without it.
3) Download & Install Crusader Kings Deus Vult.exe from GamersGate. It is not patched completely, so proceed to next step.
5) Download DV patch.rar from the post below. It should be the last file posted in the thread. This is the 2.1 beta patch.

6) Unrar the file you downloaded, directly into the CK game directory.
7) When it asks to overwrite (as it should), click "Yes to All".
