Spoiler alert: This is not a great city like other people posting here. You may not like it! Excuse me if its boring to you.
Hi folks! I'm not a hardcore player of C:SL, but I do enjoy to play slow and steady while learning. Basically I wanted to first test this game by trying to build a city and learning its game mechanics along the way. But it just got me hung up with the same city 'test2' and I've been playing only this so long.. I know its fishy and kind of not worthy enough to be on a City Journal, but I've decided I should maintain a journal of this city just to keep a record (mainly for my sake). Because, as I gradually venture into various mods (I'm trying hard to use them wisely and not have like a 1000 assets from workshop!) I think I may have some major plans for the present city in the future. Much of it inspired from Keralis. So here you go:
If you have managed to come until this, I appreciate your patience. Next time I will try to come up with some interesting snapshots from my city. I do welcome healthy criticism and suggestions, but please be considerate
Regards!!

Not much work done.. Cuz I'm stumbled on some gameplay confusion.. But here's some pics
- Overlay of my city. Population of ~90K. Unlocked 8 tiles. Contemplating unlocking all 25 tiles (I dont want my game to become laggy) as I'm obviously running out of space.. Unlocked all from the beginning 'in-game mod'.
- This was the first tile played. You can pretty much guess that from the spaghetti works in the middle! West Parish and East Parish has mostly residential and commercial areas. Downtown has some offices and commercial. I made a Farmsland just because there was agricultural resource. Its definitely gonna change into a more 'downtown' area in future.
- Expanded towards East. Machinos: previously oil industry now generic industries as the oil ran out in a snap! New oil fields were developed later where also the resource ran out before you could expand or build a cargo station. Magnolia District is supposed to be a posh area with no heavy trucks and mostly HD residential and some LD commercial to the south and HD commercial on the north. This is the only smooth functioning area in the city. May include policies for high tech buildings and educational boost in the future.
- Expanding south, we have croptown: agricultural area with little commercial. Nolearns Park was established for the sole purpose of creating some stupids in the city. I had problems with over-qualified people working in farms and then complaining about it. So I created this district and mind you there is not even one elementary school in the whole area (still somehow most of them managed to get educated!). Diggerside on the eastern edge (well before buying a plot there) was for ore industry where again the resource ran out before I could do anything meaningful with it. From now on, no industry specialization. It serves no purpose whatsoever! The whole area between Diggerside and Croptown has mostly HD Res. and HD comm.
- Expanding westwards: Beechwood Island. Only the southern part was unlocked first, to make a dedicated industrial center. Had a cargo track from north of Croptown (which I expected to cater to Diggerside as well, but did not happen as much of the goods preferred highway) to this part. I remember having some heavy traffic on that Highway connecting Dwntn/Croptwn and S Beechwood (which wasn't the name then). Then the northern part was unlocked, zoned for some HD/LD Res, HD Comm and some offices. Sufficient education systems were placed. Then it was zoned to Beechwood District. Then the southern part was named South Beechwood and gradually Industries were replaced with Commercial Residential and office buildings. Cargo station was replaced with Passenger station. Another passenger station was placed near the cargo station in Nolearns Park to form a train line. Although the cargo harbor still remains.. will be relocated to Oredom, where the industries were relocated to.
- Public Transportation: I am kinda unsatisfied with the metro stations. I wanted to have metro stations whose under tunnel could be of any orientation to the road above. In the present system it just snaps parallel to the road which kind of doesn't make sense to me! But hey, they have included metro tunnels with varying depths in this latest patch.. So that's a good sign, Anyway, I have metro connections only in the northern part of my city: Downtown, Magnolia and Beechwood. Kind of have bus lines connecting everywhere but they are all too long and complicated! All of that will be gone and I'm planning to revamp the whole public transportation in my city by creating metro/bus hubs. And possibly connecting with train tracks (modular M1, M2, M3 ??).
- Before that I have to fix certain issues like noise pollution.. for quite a while I just ignored the whole aspect until some of the citizens started to complain!
Hmmm.. pretty noisy huh?
..
- As a start I have moved one of my cargo station to the eastern tile which was recently purchased. (3rd pic in last set)..
If you have managed to come until this, I appreciate your patience. Next time I will try to come up with some interesting snapshots from my city. I do welcome healthy criticism and suggestions, but please be considerate
Regards!!
UPDATE: 2
Over-looking rest of the city...
Over-looking Magnolia and south side...
Some would say its trivial.. according to me its a masterpiece!
This Underground was an over pass before as I wanted to avoid congestion near the interchange. But now I had to move my train tracks near this place.. so over-bridge became underground!
