So I'm trying to civilize, and its a major pain building up the 25 MI score. Are there any units that build score higher? (IE regs or guards, or drags or cav)? Any other suggestions?

If you are playing VIP:Revolutions, you do not need 25 military.

As stated in the sneak preview for VIP:R 0.1

The system of civilizing for nations that start as uncivilized nations has been exentsively reworked for VIP:R. Instead of having specific levels of industry/military/prestige now you there will be lower requirements in these plus the need to discover a basket of techs :

- technology = 1402 #army professionalism
- technology = 2402 #naval professionalism
- technology = 3302 #market structure
- technology = 3102 #ad-hoc money bill
- technology = 5302 #early railway
- invention = 487 #ministerial government (a new invention that requires tech 4303)

As well as have 10 prestige, have at least 6 military score and 20% literacy

Now, to make it possible for uncivs to have a shot at civilizing, there are now a new set of background events that will increase unciv RP generation based on your literacy rate. As your literacy reaches higher, further events will fire in the background (not visible to the player) to make your RP generation closer to a civilized nation, up to a maximum of 70% of RP generation (we tried it at 100% of civilized for the max, was found to make civilizing too easy).

These RP bonuses are removed once you civilize, so that you don't end up with 7x the RP generation potential of any other civs.

The file is in scenarios/VIPScen/events/vanilla/civilize.txt. We use a separate folder of reworked vanilla events for VIP, not the ones in db/events

To get the required military score as easily as possible, create cavarly+hussar units.

No, that would be experimental railway. No one has level 2 rail at the start.

Not really

Japan wasn't really considered an equal "civilized" power to the West even at the Versailles Conference of 1919, when its proposed Racial Equality Clause was voted down by the USA and Australia, who refused to see that non-European descent peoples could ever be their equals.

And while Ethiopia defeated Italy in 1896, no one seemed to think it was really truly "civilized" even after that victory.

So in terms of gameplay purposes, having more than just a thin veneer of technological development is considered the "key" to becoming civilized - there has to be a deep development in all areas of technology. And with the boost to RP generation tied to literacy, large and medium uncivs do have a realistic chance to become "civilized" by the end of the game, that is if they survive the imperialist onslaught starting in the 1880s.

WELL, for those of us who do not want to get VIP for whatever reason, it should also be noted that you can make it easier on yourself by not paying the full military upkeep---your units still count, so its just easier.

I'm afraid that after my Prussian GC, I have a problem already in VIP.

Where're all the broken triggers and events? Everything's too stable. Totally not worth it. It should crash at -least- once an hour.

VIP has been very stable since 0.45 for Victoria 1.4

I won't say it will never crash in a game, but we do try to make sure it has better stability than say Fred Thompson's polling numbers. ;)

When joking, I would humbly suggest that you add at least one ;) , otherwise people are liable to take you seriously.

Of course, he did manage to take a stab at something political, so I don't think he is too upset.
