would it be possible to add new tech era's??... like putting in a tech era before and after the already ingame era's... maybe cut down the number of nations so colonization would be possible in europe as well.... could the game be made to start earlier... like before BC??
Playing in BC years is difficult to set, since the game engine can't work with them. The makers of Rome scenarios have to find alternate ways to do this, IOW starting the calendar at the Foundation of Rome.

Well you can already convert CK games to EU2 and continue it.
And there is a project in the works to allow EU2 to Victoria.

This way you get specialized simulators for each period.

I've been thinking about this a little and posted in the Victoria forum about it. It seems to me that all the features of EU2 (except the religious conversion and radically different economic system) are included, improved upon, and added to in Victoria. This includes a lot of things that people have been demanding for years, such as no more permanent terra incognita.

I think the best bet for an interim EU2 upgrade until the time comes for Paradox to work on EU3 is to mod Victoria to cover the EU period.

Is there a way to have temp. terra incognita within Vicky and more importantly, can attrition for ships be modeled? I can't imagine a working EU2 mod if that's not the case.

Ummm, yes. Victoria is exactly like EU2 and would be a perfectly good engine to run the time period. Except, of course, for the crippling differences, like the severe economic differences, and the diplomatic differences; also the differences in the military systems, especially with naval movement; also, don't forget that whole 'exploring' thing which some of us consider a tiny bit important to the whole 'age of exploration' thing...

The terrible thing about the civilisation games is that we often have the Romans, the English, the Celts and the USA all starting at 4000 BC! also, there is perhaps eight playable countries in total!.

EUII is supposed to be a simulation of the era from 1419 to 1820, not a fantasy game.

I think a Civilisation Universalis would be a terrible idea, but of course that is just my opinion.
