I just realized that i do know nothing about the civil war rules.
The only rumors i found are that a civil war can occur if your stability drops <1. BB and Decentralisation increase the chances.

Is there somewhere a FAQ or something similiar about Civil Wars?
I did a search in the FAQ but so far i did find nothing and a google search for the Paradox-Forum brought only old posts too, at least the first 20 hits.

I am planning to play now a country with maximum decentralisation and lots of warmongering, so i would like to know some Info about Civil wars :)

Some Info: In 1.09 you can´t get a civil war while you are at war so warmongering is a good way to prevent civil wars. :D

Ah good to know. Hm so if i go max narrowminded and max intolerant my war exhaustion is somewhat low too, so i could still earn some money and simply stay at war the whole game. Though this is surely not WAD i like this feature already.
Thnx for the info :D

A tip: Never get your stab lower then +1. If you do, then civil wars can erupt, if not, there is no danger for it. Also, the higher BB points you got, the higher chance that you can get a civil war (specially if you are under the BB max). In one of my MP games, i had 80 BB, if i had 0 stab or negative stab, i would have a civil war right the next month. Declaring war on far away countries is a good trick to avoid civil wars, if your BB is too high and if you have negative stab. Specially as Spain: it doesnt cost stab to dow far away pagans/moors, because you got a perm cb on them. :)

Did you mean "over the BB max"? If not so, how does the chance behave if you go over the limit?

Yes, i did mean over the BB max... Oups bad english.

Usually when i am over the BB max, and my stab suddently drops via events (political crisis are a comon feature when you are a bad boy), i got a civil war right the following month (so, the chance must be 100%). The best thing when you got such an event, is, pause, and dow a far away country, one that cant hurt you no matter what. In the meanwhile get your stab up. I would like to remember that having full serfdom and being full narrowminded helps lowering stab a lot, to compensate the BB points.

If you are near the BB max, then, the risks for civil war are also big, but you surely will not get them so many times. IIRC, I have seen countries with a BB max of 50, having civil wars when they just got a BB of 38 (but they were usually at -3 stab). But lower then that, nop. I think there is still a chance that you can have a civil war even when you have only 20 BB, but the chances must be very low, as i never experienced it.

All in All, keep your stability higher then 0, and you will be fine. Even +1 stab will do. No matter how high your BB is, you will never have a civil war when you have that amount of stability. Or if you are at war.

P.S. I cant give you the exact chances for having a civil war. Even the BB faq doesnt point that. :p
But i can assure that if you have like 80 BB, and if your BB max is 50, you will surely have civil wars the next month your stability drops to a negative value (or even to 0). In a MP game of mine, i had no more then 5 civil wars in a row, due to massive BB points. So you guess, i learned the lesson the hard way. CW have been vastly improved in 1.09, because i remember playing other versions in SP, and i never had one, even after conquering half of the world.
