I don't think it's fair to call cities that are close to Germany by German names, and also for Italian. If you can call some Indian town nobody heard of by it's real name, then why can't you call cities of Eastern Europe by their national names?
Here are some examples:

Carpathia - Kaschau ---> Kassa (Hungarian), it became Kosice after WW1
Ruthenia - Klauseburg --> Munkacs, after WW1 it's Muhachevo
Magyar - Peszt ---> not Peszt, Pest!!!
Pest - Buda (correct side of the Danube issue here) (ok)
Croatia - Agram (German for Zagreb) ---> Zagrab or Zagreb
Dalmatia - Zadar ---> Zara untill WW1, then Zadar
Moldova - Iassy (capital) ---> you wrote Bucarest by it's Romanian name, then do the same for Iasi

there's also the issue of Durres in Albania (Durazzo) etc... also don't call Galicia Galizien...

Well, I wrote those names because that's what the government called them. But it's true, even here in Poland we learn about the battle of Sadova rather than Koniggratz (Austerlitz is I believe an exception) so I'd rather stay with the German names, still thanks for correcting me in Pest, I was thinking in Polish when I wrote that :). As for Iassy-Iasi it's my mistake and that should be corrected. And the last thing: calling the province Galizien is kind of necessary as we connot change the names on the map, and though even as I'd like to call it Galicja it must satyas it is.

Pls do not confuse me... Either we do it in their native names, or in the English names. Not something in between. If native names should be used, the city in Moravia should be Brno for example (been there last week ;))

Well I think Galizien is something in between (it's not English). Also, if you use the nation's name then, for example, Ruthenia wouldn't be Ruthenia because the Hungarians didn't call it that way etc. (I'm for using English, international names)

Btw Styrbiorn... There is a mistake in Mamut's list... Savoie needs to be Briançon and not Briancon...
You pronounce it differently... Briançon is read like Brianson and Briancon would be Briankon in French

Well, it's been six hours over three days with AoN and the map and here is what I came up with. Mostyl I tried to select a city that
a) existed back then
b) is more or less appropriate to the city icon on the map
c) is more or less appropriate compared to cities in neighbouring provinces
d) screwing all earlier points except a, was by far the most important city in the province boundaries

In no particular order the city names are as follows
Carpathia - Kaschau (sticking to the German names)
That's it. Have fun. Comments welcomeculd it be Kassa ? (it was Austro Hungarian afterall)
Ruthenia - Klauseburg Ungvar perfect
Magyar - Peszt Pest
Pest - Buda (correct side of the Danube issue here) correct
Croatia - Agram (German for Zagreb) Zagreb was better IMO
Dalmatia - Zadar

Maros's capitol/main city should be Debrecen or maybe Debrezin in german
Preßburg Could be called Pozsony and Ödenburg could be called Sopron (local language)

Wait a second as I see some voices here want local language names, whereas other (including me) want the names to be in the national language of the country it belonged to... I think it's high time we should agree on this
