Loving the game so far! There is something I've always wanted to see in a city planning game, but given I'm not a dev or modder I'm not sure how feasible it would be. It would be great to be able to lay down 2-lane roads that take up the space of 4-lane road or larger. The extra space would be empty except for the driveway(s) going to the house or business, basically just a larger front yard. This would let you plan out your major roads in a town when starting small, then upgrade to a larger road without having to demolish buildings or change a bunch of streets around.

It would be cool to start out with 2 lane roads, houses with large yards out in front, and then upgrade to a busy 4-lane road as the city grows. Finally, you could rezone and have a bunch of high density residential with even larger 4 lane roads with trees in the median. All this without having to take a bulldozer to anything.

Hopefully other people think this is a good idea as well! Thanks for reading.

Neat idea. Why not lay 4 lane roads right from start ? Is it for cost concerns ? There are indeed 50% more expensive to layout and more than double the maintenance cost and at the beginning of the game you dont want to waste all your money on roads but you still wanna do some decent planning/layout.
Which makes me think of bus/services lanes (would be nice on 4 lane roads btw) instead of being empty !? At a price between 2 and 4 lanes. If upgraded they would just merge with the rest of the traffic.
