C:SL is what sc2013 shouldve been it seems to be a cute/toy city simulator

Cxxl unless they drastically change the dynamics of the game is a huge, realistic city painter

TA is creating a new idea? Here is a real city "paris" how will you manage it. Amazing graphics, not much info on game play.

Did I miss any companies or niche city builder categories that hasnt been met?

Realistic vs cute graphics

Simulation vs Representative statistics

Creating vs managing vs painting

TA Paris? Who are they, any links?
Civitas was another one that failed on kickstarter, the initiative seems to have died altogether now.

Looks like C:SL will be the main contender for the time being...

I think that's one of the Enodo's simulation . If it is check out the Enodo demo real 2012. If you haven't seen it, it'll blow you're mind. I think this is the company that creating something like the Paris architect simulation.

Apples and oranges... Why don´t you just wait at least until release day before you start praising/ bashing any titles? CXL is already more than 5 years old and never got finished. CXXL? We´ll see.
Architect is not even a city builder. You just rearrange an already existing part of Paris. Release uncertain, forum is as good as dead.

It's not a thread of who is better, it was more of how the City Builder genre is broken down...and who are the current players and where do they fall into the mix. If a new company were to come in, is there anything new and innovative or would they basically do whats already done but try to do it better?

Yep, I'm waiting more info on The Architect, and on CxxL. Unlike C:SL they don't really communicate/marketing very well with their customers.

@KR153 : based on your description it sounds like CIM2ish.

also depends on how you define city-builder.

For some people, Tropico 5 is also a city builder, as well as Anno series, settlers, banished, and so on.

Ah yes, the Paris Architect Game, I remember now.

Not holding my breath though... site says, quite prominently, "FOLLOW OUR REGULARLY UPDATED WEBSITE & STAY TUNED IN TO OUR LATEST NEWS" (sorry, in caps as per original) and the latest posts are from May 12th... ouch.

@medopu Yeah C:XL and TA aren't very good at community outreach...C:SL seems to be doing a decent job of it, but SC2013 was doing a lot of community outreach pushing their snake oil sold in glass box containers to the masses, then it severley tapered off.

@GrauPanther : not much info on it, but from someones explanation of it, doesn't look you can build anything? seems like you are merely managing...which makes it more in line with CIM2 :p hope that's not the case but it sure does look BIG in terms of scale and pretty...

SC2013 is glass box, TA is done with CRYengine, C:SL is done with unity...anyone know what C:XL uses?

The Architect sounds interesting, but IMHO it's more like a simulation, with tools for the extreme, so I doubt that you'll enjoy it if you're just a casual player.
