Describe your issue
Vanilla education buildings disappearing from the menu. Unique buildings locking and unlocking themselves

What is your game version?
1.13.3.f9

What expansions do you have installed?
After Dark, Snowfall, Mass Transit, Green Cities, Parklife, Industries, Campus, Sunset Harbor

What mods are you using?
None, I unsubscribed in an attempt to fix the problem. It didn't help.

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
In the last week I've had issues with education buildings being missing from the menu and my unique buildings becoming locked again. The vanilla version of the University disappeared., so I unsubscribed from all mods and assets and restarted steam. The University reappeared but now one of the high schools is gone. The unique buildings come and go as they fancy. Sometimes its just 5 or 6 that have locked themselves but right now its almost all of them. I was trying to reopen them but they just lock again. This is very frustrating. I'm assuming that if I try to open a saved game in which I used any of these items the game would remove them or break. I don't want to risk loosing the hundreds of hours of work. Please can someone help!

Can you replicate the issue? If yes, please explain how you did it.
Just starting a game replicates the issue, although the unique buildings change each time.

So is the first screenshot supposed to be representing the "missing" high school? If so, I see nothing missing or locked on that screen. What specifically do you think is missing?

The high school returned but the old style university has gone again.
There is nothing missing from your screenshot at all, if we're talking strictly vanilla game here. What I think you are referring to is an asset that is present only when playing on a map with the European theme.

When you start a new game and select a map, it comes with a theme. The default vanilla themes are Boreal, Temperate, Tropical, and European (and Winter if you have Snowfall DLC).. All of the themes have the same educational assets EXCEPT European. The European theme has its own unique assets for education, police, fire, and (I think) medical.

Try this: First activate the built-in mod that unlocks everything at the start. Next, start a game using a map with the European theme. Note the assets it lists under education. Now start another new game, but choose a map with a theme other than European and open that same menu.

Does that fit the pattern of "missing" assets?

Thanks, I just loaded a new game and all education buildings are available again. I've only ever seen different new assets appear when playing with 'Snowfall'. I've never not had access to the buildings I mentioned. And since the locking and unlocking unique buildings happened I was thinking it was part of the same issue.

FYI ALL of the unique buildings have locked now.

To get all of the base game education buildings, you need to go to the game's main menu, then content manager, then to styles, then click on European/vanilla box and you will have both available to you. Otherwise, you only get one or the other.

EDIT:

You can't just start randomly unsubscribing mods. Some mods will break the saved game if removed, or cripple your city. Make sure to carefully read the workshop items before removing them from the game. Workshop is not official content for the game and may not be fully supported.
