Hi,
I've created this map some time ago https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2219005396 and updating it was always messy but it worked. I had to unsubscribe from the map, delete the local copy of the map with the same name locally, resubscribe and then re-save the workshop item with the tweaks I could have done on my local copy with a different name in the meantime. Maybe I did over-complicate things, but that proved to be the most straight forward approach for me.
Unfortunately the map file was broken. I found a local copy that worked, so I have resubscribed to the map, opened map editor using the local copy and re-saved the workshop file. Only to find out it never re-saves is. I mean I presume it always did produce a local copy, but it was somehow always paired and it was possible to overwrite the workshop item with that. I was thinking it could be broken because the workshop item is broken. I noticed Steam allows to revert to an older version so I did that. But unfortunately that didn't seem to do the trick.
If I load the workshop map directly and re-save it, then a "linked" copy is made (in the list of maps it shows the workshop link button) but the updated version is still missing the "update" button and only the old one from the workshop has it. And the minute I re-save that copy with my latest local version copy the workshop button/link disappears.
All I can do is to share the updated version as a new workshop item which I don't want to do.
Any ideas what am I doing wrong or how can I reliably update a workshop map then?
PS. In the end I was able to update the map by accessing the "WorkshopStagingArea" folder and replacing the map file there manually. So glad that was an option too.
Thank you!
