Describe your issue
Save that works fine a week ago became unplayable and crashes game

What is your game version?
1.13.1-f1

What expansions do you have installed?
After Dark, Snowfall, Natural Disasters, Mass Transit, Green Cities, Parklife, Industries, Campus, Sunset Harbor

What mods are you using?

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
As described in the title, the save was fine just a week before. Then I tried to load it yesterday and I was bombarded with loads of error messages. I also see ground deformation (sudden drops, ground spikes) before the game freezes.

Can you replicate the issue? If yes, please explain how you did it.
I tried using Save Our Saves mod and the game stuck at the loading screen. If I disable the mod then the save loads and proceeds as above

With only 8GB of RAM, your issue is likely this:

  [Modding]

This game uses a lot of memory. You likely just have exceeded your limit.

8GB? I got 40GB in my system. I think you mistook my VRAM for my system ram

My bad. But it could still be memory related. maybe workshop related. Maybe a mod conflict or mod updated. It is hard to say.

Maybe a dev can look at the log and analyze what mods are compatible or in conflict, or even outdated. There are often multiple versions of the same mod, but different builds, or by different authors.

In the mean time, try the compatibility checker mod. make sure to read it carefully as you need to run it in content manager, not in city.

This error is getting spammed in the log. Not all of them are referencing the same parts of the code though.

What was the cause of this problem though? I loaded another save and there was nothing wrong with it despite having the same mods and assets

So, is that an FPS booster mod? Maybe the OP have more than one installed at once?
I only had one FPS Booster mod

I'd speculate that a gameplay decision you made while it was still working triggered something to break on load, such as purchasing new tiles. You could test this if you have older saves from the same city. Alternatively a mod might've been updated in the meantime and may have caused a conflict.

Also I tried LSM Safe Mode and surprise! I was able to play my save again. But just to be sure I put my output.log from my latest session so you guys can check if there's anything funny going on

Okay I tried the save again and got bombarded with "Array index is out of range[System.IndexOutOfRangeException]" error messages again but at least it's playable and with minimal terrain changes. Here's my latest output.log and autorepair.log with all old, broken and outdated mods removed

There's a few more mod changes you should make:
  • Switch Find It to Find It 2
  • Remove Building Anarchy (at least temporarily) as it might play a role here
  • Remove Randomize Age Cims Move in - you have Lifecycle Rebalance Revisited for this
  • Remove Plop the Growables - you have RICO Revisited for this, just remember to enable the options for it.
Advanced Outside Connections and Optimized Outside Connections can also cause trouble together depending on settings and the error you're getting happens right after Advanced Outside Connections does its thing. Might be worth trying to remove Advanced Outside Connections as a test to see if it stops the error. And ofc unsubscribe the mods to ensure they aren't running - you can always subscribe again if it doesn't help.
