Describe your issue
I went to save the game (F1) and it crashes and doesn't save the game, unfortunately. This happens frequently

What is your game version?
1.13.3-f9

What expansions do you have installed?
After Dark, Mass Transit, Green Cities, Parklife, Industries, Campus, Sunset Harbor

What mods are you using?
I disabled the mods and it doesn't stop the problem.

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
When I hit f1 to save the file, the game crashes and doesn't save the game. This happens about an hour into game play. Interestingly, I also have YouTube playing and when it crashes, the YouTube tab in Microsoft Edge browser also crashes. When I restart, it buys me more time until the same thing happens within an hour of gameplay.

Can you replicate the issue? If yes, please explain how you did it.
See above.

Please try a **clean** reinstall:

- Remove the game from Steam (uninstall)
- Manually delete all these files and folders, if still there:

...\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\
...\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\255710\
...\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines
(first move the /saves/ folder elsewhere to keep your save games)
(To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer)

- Install the game again
- Add cities.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- test with a NEW save/city, not with any existing one. And NO mods or assets enabled

Good luck with that!

Before you reinstall the game ... try to save from the game menu instead of using F1. The fact that you get a crash from another app at the same time may mean there's a conflict somewhere as to how the button is mapped.

I see mods in that log, so let's start by excluding them as the cause. Add the launch options -noWorkshop and -disableMods to Steam, start a new game to test if it will save without crashing then.

How To Set Launch Options
  • Right-click on the game title under the Library in Steam and select Properties.
  • Enter the launch options you wish to apply in the box (be sure to separate each code with a space). Should look like this:
    Code:
    -noWorkshop -disableMods
  • Close the game's Properties window and launch the game.
