UPDATE FROM 1 MONTH LATER
I have resolved the issue myself, the graphics card on my computer was incorrectly installed and now after properly reinstalling the driver, the game launches

What is your game version?
Can't even launch to check, recently downloaded, so probably latest

What expansions do you have installed?
After Dark, Snowfall, Parklife

What mods are you using?
None

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
The game just won't launch and I get an error saying that the launcher couldn't update. Says to report issue/contact support so that's why I'm here.

Can you replicate the issue? If yes, please explain how you did it.

I'm seeing a lot of this error in the cpatch log:

Check that the system time on your machine is correct. Most stock installations of Linux should already come with either ntpd, chrony, or systemd-timesyncd installed to keep the time synced with a remote time server.

EDIT: also check that the timezone is set correctly as well.

Indeed, that error means exactly that your machine is not on good internet time, which confuses our servers. Fix that and the launcher issue should come good.


I have no idea what that player.log means, never seen anything like it before. FYI the only supported distro is Ubuntu, my guess is this is related to that.

Check that the system time on your machine is correct. Most stock installations of Linux should already come with either ntpd, chrony, or systemd-timesyncd installed to keep the time synced with a remote time server.

EDIT: also check that the timezone is set correctly as well.
Due to my wifi driver not being natively installed on my Distro (Manjaro) I had to manually set the time in the setup when installing, now that I have done that the launcher updates.

However the game still refuses to launch.

I thought this might be the culprit but some googling shows it is cosmetic. So we still have no idea what's preventing this game from loading!

Do you have access to any Mandaro or general Linux support resources who might be able to help you diagnose that down from that player.log, or perhaps strace or similar tools?
