Everytime I try to launch City Skylines I get a message saying " An Error Occurred in updating City Skylines; Skylines (app running)

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I have read the forums with many having this issue. I have deleted library cache, uninstalled paradox launcher, rebooted computer, cleared download cache etc and i am still receiving the same error of "an error occurred while updating city skylines:skylines (app running) I have been playing this game since 2019 with no issue this started several weeks ago and have had no luck getting this resolved. I dont want to have to lose my progress in the game as i have several years of work put into it

Can you replicate the issue? If yes, please explain how you did it.

You can bypass the launcher by following these instructions:

- Download the attached cities.txt file
- rename it to cities.bat
- Place the .bat file in your game's Steam folder (In the same place as your cities.exe)
- Right click the game in your Steam library
- Go to properties
- Select Set Launch Options
- Copy and Paste cities.bat %command% into the input box
- Select Ok
- Run the game

Yes.

Don't type it in, paste it in exactly as I wrote it. Then just close that screen; you can re-open it to reassure yourself that the line is still there.
