This may be an issue on the M1:

Please attach this log file here:
~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

To find that file, in Finder do cmd-shift-G to bring up the GOTO box. In there paste ~/Library/ . You will see a /Logs/ folder, and inside that /Unity/ folder. Please attach that file player.log here by dropping it on this support ticket, or use the "Attach file" link here.

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

ColossalFramework.PlatformServices.PlatformServiceNotRunningException: Platform service is not running. (Steam-Steam)
Are you running the game from the PLAY button in Steam? Or from cities.app directly or a desktop shortcut?

If the latter, delete that player.log then run the game from the PLAY button in Steam. If it makes a new log attach that here, thanks.

Thank you for the reply , I start the game on steam , push the start button , not from the cities.app directly or a desktop shortcut

Did it make a new output log after deleting it? If so please attach that here, thanks.

I see, the same as that other thread I linked then.

I can only guess that an update to MacOS on the M1 has triggered this problem with this game. Unfortunately I haven't got mine yet, waiting for the 27" iMac to come out on the M1!

@AndrewT Is the launcher not supported on the M1? Since the OP isn't getting past the launcher and the game isn't generating an output_log, it sounds like the game isn't being initiated at all.

@hochenghung Can you try moving the mouse over the red triangle and attempt to translate the error it gives you?

I agree, but on the other hand the launcher appears to run fine. We could take it out of the loop but configuring Steam to run the game directly, let's see what comes of that error.

There is nothing after remove the mouse over the triangle, and there is a launcher update , still can start the game, but the triangle disappeared.

If you exit and restart the launcher that update should take effect. Does it now say 2021.6?

That means you opted into the beta in the launcher. Was that for a specific reason?

Anyway let's see if bypassing the launcher helps.

- Download the attached file dowser.CSL.txt
- rename it to just dowser
- move it to your Home folder (the one in Finder with the little house icon)
- run the Terminal app. That will open up a command line to that folder; do LS to check that dowser is there.
- then do this command: chmod +x dowser This is to set the file to be executable on your Mac
- right click on cities.app, Show Package Contents, open the launcher folder in there. Rename that dowser to dowser.org or whatever, THEN move the new dowser we just made into that folder
- delete the ~/Library/Application Support/Paradox Interactive/ folder again
- Run the game

Good luck!

How its it there are two "dowser" files in there? That should not be possible.

What exactly hapepns when you try to start the game from the Steam PLAY button now?
