Why did Paradox and Colossal Order agree to this decision? It’s currently on Origin with a PC only release, no way to use the big Steam Mods and the players who play the game on computers already use Steam to play it.

This is so bizarre; they had no reason to expand on to EA’s platform and it’s not even fully prepared for it.

I disagree with this ****, remember what happened to SimCity back in 2013, and after that both CO and Paradox allowed their game to be on EA's Origin service so it could become a failure instead of success, plus without any mod support unlike in Steam. ;)

I still be using the Steam version, regardless of this big shocking announcement about ****ty EA and their Origin service. Unless they are going to discontinue the game on Steam in the near-future, which is disappointing as the Workshop contains over 100,000 items.

EDIT: Sorry for swearing here, lol

who cares, how does it affect how you play and enjoy the game? it's just another revenue stream for CO/Paradox. it has zero affect on my life so why would it have an affect on yours?

Why? Because it's more exposure, which likely leads to more customers. Both Paradox and CO are businesses, so they ofc want to sell their product and having it in more stores means that's more likely to happen. I understand the concern from seing EA in relation to Cities: Skylines in any way given what they've done to many great franchises, but it isn't like they own some part of the game or something. This is EA trying to get a foothold selling games other than their own (maybe because that isn't going so well for them :p).

At the most I'd say this indicates that EA aren't gonna try and revive the SimCity franchise, since it'd be kinda stupid offering the main competitor on Origin if they planned to do another SimCity game. :p But beyond that there's really no indication that EA are gonna swallow up Cities: Skylines (or that anyone is interested in selling to them), so imo there's no point in worrying about that now. Also it isn't really a secret why SimCity launched as such a mess and how EA have ruined several great developers, so I have my doubts that any devs have big dreams about joining them (unless they don't have other options ofc). ;)

Also this:
