Guessing from the first game, and the way games get released in the past. I am guessing at a May or September release date. Because I would be very surprised if it was June, especially when Colossal breaks for the Summer.

Probably find out more Friday on the 8th Birthday of CS1.

And I am looking forward to the 150 tiles... :D

I wouldn't count on any "leaks" to give any reliable info, or actually being leaks at all.
But yes... towards end of... i think 2019 or rather 2020, there was news that the map be enormous. To the point that you could create rathe a small country and not just 1 city.

I think May is highly unlikely.
September/October seems to me like a safe bet.

Really wish it is released before the summer break. It should be released when school is out so we can properly have the time to play and enjoy and people are on holidays

Maybe that's the only time of the year that you can enjoy the sun and warm temperatures (and hopefully not anywhere near to oven baking temperatures like we had last year) and you wouldn't spend much time at the PC anyway? ;)
Or you shouldn't at least :D:D

unlike the vanilla cities skylines, real world actually has day/night cycle in summer to as well as bad weather.

but anyway, release in october seems to me the most likely scenario going by the csl1 timeline and 7 month period from the announcement phase to the final release.

Cities skylines announcement trailer: Aug 2014
Cities skylines release: March 2015

Csl 2 announcement trailer: March 2023
Csl 2 release: October 2023

this calculation ofcourse doesn't account for long summernholidays at CO, so i'm willing to bet the release to be postponed due to that for another month or two. So November/December seem to be quite likely as well.

I think some people are getting little confused here. When the CO said about 2009 demo, they were talking about Cities in Motion. I remember reading about Cities Skylines development started in 2014 and was done in 2015 which was around in 1.5 years.

I'm expecting possibly an perhaps a late September or early October release. They wouldn't want to release early September with Starfield set to launch on the 6th. They could release in the holiday period, but I don't see that happening as that's when other big games would release.

it also doesn't account for no need for any correlation.... as with any DLC in the past, they were not appearing as regular as some would have counted on.

And to add to this they already started planning from around 2009. This might explain for the engine type and version they used for CS1.
yes of course, and they had said it quite a few times :)

I agree here - what probably we all meant is that they had a dream of creating a city builder game, a proper one - and even Cities Skylines (1 as it turned out) was not their original aim, it was meant to be just the next step towards that dream game.

October is always a good month. I remember 2 studios I have worked at always targeting October for the H2 releases.

Close enough to the holidays to tap into the early market but also far enough out to 1) provide adequate support before the break and 2) release a Christmas-time DLC.
