Already spent a bit of money on CS1 DLCs...hopefully CS2 has all that content built in and we are not required to purchase DLCs all over again for CS2
Yes and no. New game on a new platform means, rebuy DLCs for the new game as sad as it is. Thus I've already planning on giving paradox my bank info so they can charge me directly that and save time too.

Why rebuy? Could it be possible that most of dlc purchased in cities skylines 1 is standard gameplay within the game already? And that the new dlc is going to enhance the game from there?

I am pessimistic in this regard. Take a look at the latest Paradox Interactive releases. They come out empty, and if it's a continuation of the series, like CK3, then most of the DLC mechanics are not in the descendant. But we need to wait until the developers provide us with information. Because now the trailer is just a beautiful picture with very little information

This is one aspect about Cities Skylines 2 that does concern me.

Cities Skylines has tons of DLCs and even more expected soon. Now I completely understand that it would be completely unreasonable and probably near impossible to have Cities Skylines 2 integrate all core DLC features from Cities Skylines so this is do not expect at all. I highly expect Cities Skylines 2 to have DLCs just as much as Cities Skylines.

But because of this it is a concern that Cities Skylines 2 will be an empty shell on first release and so a lot of players might decide to just stick with Cities Skylines and not bother with Cities Skylines 2 because of the lack of content. Yes the lack of content will probably be fixed after a year or so of DLCs but if not enough players jump ship and buy Cities Skylines 2 and the DLCs then Cities Skylines 2 might end up failing.

Well, I'm not so sure about that. You can't speak for everyone. My two cents are, for many, the journey is the goal. Compare a train tramp or hitchhiker with a charter traveler, who wants to lie on the beach and wants drinks to be served. Many go to the same destination over and over again. They don't like changes. How fun is that? Not from my perspective. I see a thin starting point as a great inspiration. Also, modders will faster produce mods, experienced with C S 1 and a version of the same engine (Unity) used. Don't worry, be happy! New DLCs keep the game alive and bring new options. I'm very much excited looking forward to start with fewer tools and getting to know the game properly, and then growing with the game as it develops. :)

I have one rather straightforward request: Please do not release a stripped-down base version and then 1000 dlcs over 8 years...
That's unfortunately the core model for Paradox Interactive. If people would stop buying all the watered-down and overpriced DLCs then we wouldn't be here, but alas...

As for CS: II really don't know what to expect. But since it obviously will be on consoles too that puts a giant dent in my hopes for what the game could be in terms of complexity and scale.

Anyway,

Better road and rail building that would enable us far more complex networks (see transport fever for rail)
Better road/rail/sea/air pathfinding AI - obviously!
Non-gridded zoning allows bigger buildings and have them utilize space better so the Chicago grid isn't the only viable option.
Airports/ports/rail should be customizable from the get-go. No tiny train stations, airports, and harbors
Marinas... Seriously why didn't Sunset Harbor (or park life) add this?
MUCH bigger maps
MUCH higher build limits (I'd rather have this though if I can't have both)
Better water simulation
More focus on the economics and production chains of city building (think Workers & Resources)
Actually skylines. Funny that it took 8 years for CO to actually give us skyscrapers...
Better building/asset editor. Allow all players to become asset creators and have some uniformity in the assets created (performance wise)

I think they gonna collect core improvements here, but some neightbor themes will be added via DLC. As usual. Like those universities: in the base game it's common unit which gives simply final grade to students, but DLC'ed campus will be greater structure with option to provide peak level education. Maybe it can be bound to some direction, like biology, energetic, and so on...

It will be available on the latest generations of consoles. So I don't see any worries about it. Consoles have finally been made at least more or less normal in terms of hardware

Yea what you said makes 100% sense. GREAT point! Because talking to a nerd friend myself, the DLCs for CS1 ARE NOT coming over to CS2 because its a different platform. Different platform/console equals new coding equals new DLCs. Sorry.

Thus yes I can see your point being that CS2 will be an empty shell.

Colossal order has just announced and confirmed that this is the last dlc coming next week and May. This is a proper send off for cs1 paving way for a sequel cs2 to start and that May is going to be a major update on cs1. Can’t wait:);):D:cool:
