It could barely run CS1, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

As C:S2 seems pretty much be build on Unreal Engine 5 it is possible to compile it for the Switch. However you cannot expect it to be the same level of detail due to the limited hardware. If it will come to the current gen Switch it will likely lack many post processing effects and scaled down textures .

As of today March 7 2023 we do not know this yet. ;)

That's why the seems was added, however in the trailer you can see at least one well known UE5 asset being placed which is the gas station with its surroundings at the trailers start:

This makes me pretty confident it is UE5 ;) - the scene itself was likely put together inside the games engine and used with some post editing for trailer usage.

Let's hope for the best and that they have learned from their old game engine.

Unfortunately, these are dreams. Cities Skylines 2 is on Unity Engine based :).

I doubt it's UE5 since there was a delay in the delivery of the "final" version by Epic Games (which was delivered in the middle of 2022 if I remember correctly) in addition it would make the implementation of mods very difficult, since the UE uses Shader.
That said, most likely the engine is the new unity.

Devs confirmed it is UNITY, not UE.

Which means the trailer is probably just outsourced cinematic made in UE by some external company specialized in making trailers.

Keep in mind that both Unity and CO have improved a lot over the years. Comparing Unity of CS1 with Unity of CS2 is like comparing Unreal engine 3 with Unreal engine 5.
