So I'm starting to become more favorable to the concept of a SC2 that's fair for SC1 players. So I thought of a way to make it fair for players and CO and PI
No need to reinvent the wheel for DLCs
Whilst the base game will reinvent the wheel, obviously, as that would be the purpose of an SC2, however, when it comes to DLCs, they're pretty good
Industries DLC, for example, is pretty good- so when converting to SC2, all you would need to do is add a coal industry and gold industry and an oil pipeline, and the rest could remain the same. As such, with a few minor adjustments, Industries could be incorporated to SC2
Sunset Harbour could remain pretty much identical, but Tuna becomes a salt water fish, and trout and bass are added as fresh water fish
Park Life could remain the same, except CO could add water parks, golf courses and snow golf courses
Public transport could remain the same, but with the addition of Bus Rapid Transit, guided buses, car ferries, train ferries, motorail, rolling highways, double stacked container trains, car shuttle trains.
Campus Life could remain exactly the same.
Seasons DLC could have the exact same winter parks as snowfall, but also with summer parks- such as sand sculpture parks and splash pads, and autumn/springs parks with falling leaves/blossoming trees. Everything about snowfall could remain the same- from district heating to snow dumps. CO would need to add features for other season, such as a street sweeper depot which also deploys leaf vac trucks in autumn
Instead of re-inventing the wheel, CO could enhance the wheel by adding rims and tires
This will allow CO to develop DLCs faster and cheaper for SC2, and the savings could be passed on to consumers who already own SC1 equivalent DLCs (whilst people who don't own those DLCs would pay full price)
OBVIOUSLY there would be brand new DLCs which don't exist for SC1, (I would suggest a tourism DLC, which I have detailed in another thread, and a boating DLC, where there are private boats and water taxis, as well as water police. These would be at full price for everyone, including SC1 DLC owners,
HOWEVER, if there was a SC2, by enhancing the wheel, rather than reinventing it, CO could save a lot of money, which could be passed on to owners of current DLCs, ad make even more money by charging those who don't own any SC1 DLCs
What do you guys think. This might very well be the fairest way to implement SC2. You pay full price to upgrade to the main game, but get discounts to upgrade to enhanced versions of existing DLCs.
Thoughts, please
