Will one be able to lay BUS LANES on highways, bridges and tunnels? That is a common feature on those road types around the New York City area.
Bus lanes can be laid anywhere a normal road can be laid. This includes expressways/highways, bridges and tunnels. :)

Yeah, I love the screenshots, however, my brain is still debating if colour wins realism. All the grey isn't that appealing, on the other hand, grey is realistic in most metropolises.

I've noticed a lack of STREET ZONE TREES on the roads in the screen shots. I hope they allow the game to automatically generate landscaping trees for the roads

I hope generating many various landscapes will be integrated :) We've seen some simple streets with buildings around, but we'd love to see some marvelous landscapes over the cities, aside with strictly urban areas :)

Yeah... even though that isn't one of my greatest concerns; I do acknowledge the fact that most cities are dense and filthy, however, I do pend for parks and other leisure places established in the city centre, near government buildings, residential zones and upper-class living. Not so long ago I went to Bucharest; many of which the city was strewn in chaos and apartment blocks were abundant, on the other hand, Bucharest did consist of some beautiful parks, and, in the area where my family lived (an expensive land value), there was a very nice city park nearby as well as a few glass skyscrapers - not typical concrete.

EDIT:

Considering Cities in Motion 2 are all about 'modern times'; from the looks of it, the cities don't seem to have that contemporary flavor in them. Nonetheless, I can see a few glass skyscrapers now and then, but, why's it all being narrowed down to the New York style buildings which were in place decades ago. The concrete blocks everywhere look so ugly :(

This looks awesome! I can't wait for it to be released, I hope I can beta test. I'm wondering if you can customize the protected turn lanes? For example, adding two left turn only lanes to a road. Is it possible to customize/add stop lights for protected turn lanes?

That arises a question which should be put to the developer's attention...
Are turning lanes applicable to bus lanes or are bus lanes capable of distributing buses in any direction.

I would think the bus would have to move to a different lane to turn left, but I it could make a right turn and go straight from its lane. Also are bus lanes used for right turns for regular vehicles as well?

I really don't like that wide roads = big buildings, narrow roads = suburban buildings. Density develops where there is DEMAND regardless of road width. Density should be entirely a factor of demand and our policies, maybe some sort of simple "zoning" system?

That's true! I think the idea has been adopted from Simcity, however, I've no doubt lost my appetite for density approved roads: It's the amount of traffic which usually determines a road size, and not the density of the buildings.
Hence, most roads are empty anyway :p

This isn't necessarily the case, there are roads in the cities which are pretty small but have larger offices and apartments along them, while in turn there are boulevards/highways in the suburban areas.

Roads also partly determine what kind of buildings are generated in a given area. Bigger roads, like avenues and multi-lane streets, typically generate buildings for the heart of your city, such as offices, while regular one or two-lane roads tend to favor smaller, suburban buildings such as tenements and detached houses.

The roads combined with other factors determine what buildings appear in a certain area. It is by no means only about the road width/size/lane count.

So, only offices can be generated on avenues? o_O

Yet another idea that came to my mind when I was sitting on the toilet :p We should be able to build underpasses. Let's say we have a wide street/avenue with a high level of traffic, and we have bus/tram stops on both sides of the street - it would somehow make it easier for passengers to get to the right bus/tram/whatever mean of transportation if we built an underpass :) And that way we could also connect other things, like maybe a metro platform to another platform, or a street, etc. - there are plenty of possibilities :)
