There is one huge problem with the cities in Europa Universalis IV: the fact that they change when the province gets captured by another country.
For example, if as Castille I decide to continue the reconquista, I will have changed all the architectural history of Morocco or any other north african country to a western european one. I find it to be slightly annoying. Why are there arabian buildings in Bulgaria? Or in Greece or any other Balkan country conquered by the Ottomans. If you conquer provinces in India as GB you practically change all their culture and history by making Lucknow look like Birmingham.
The solution should be simple, only change the city's aspect if you also change it's culture or if you westernize.

Hmmm...I don't know, once you conquer a native american province, it's culture doesn't change instantly. The people in that province are still native americans so why would they have european buildings?
well, I'd love to say that it wouldnt...but whenever europoors conquer mesoamerica they don't like to change the culture of the land and it forever remains native huts(at least some of it)

I find most colonial nations tend to flip the culture of provinces really quickly.

maybe a transition over time? Lets say every few years one building of the city changes to the new culture ( im talking visually) until all building have the visuals of the conqueror.

What if native cultures owned by a colonial nation all had cultural flipping events to flip to a relevant colonial culture?

It would be possible, but I don't think this happened in real life. Natives weren't made english or french citizens after their territories were colonised by the colonial powers, and we all know what the americans did with them...

I was thinking more along the lines of Spanishificating mexico. Having aztec culture owned by Iberian primary culture would flip to some Iberian group colonial culture, similar to American.
Something like that?
Honestly the whole thing with culture and colonization needs some reworking, but I'm not sure exactly how to do it...

Me neither...tough the aztec culture was completely ravaged by disease along with 90% of all the native population of N&S America so maybe this could be implemented through an event when europeans colonize nearby provinces...
