My computer has recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7. Game launched a single time using files from Windows 7 installation. Didn't like the lighting, downloaded the Clear and Bright mod, tried relaunching when the error began. Now when Cities is launched from Steam, the "Play" button is replaced by "X Stop" and in the library games list Cities: Skylines - Running appears, so Steam thinks the game is running. The game does not appear in the Taskbar or Task Manager and does not appear onscreen. Played game time as recorded by Steam increases during this period. When the "X Stop" button is pressed and I confirm unsaved data may be lost, the game says it is "Stopping" but never stops and thus can't even be relaunched. Launch settings are: -noWorkshop -disableMods ; I've combed through my old mods for any on the blacklist and then some. I have reinstalled the game twice, no DLC installed while troubleshooting. Other games still load through Steam.

You can bypass the launcher by following these instructions:

- Download the attached cities.bat.zip file
- extract cities.bat from it
- Place the .bat file in your game's Steam folder (In the same place as your cities.exe)
- Right click the game in your Steam library
- Go to properties
- Select Set Launch Options
- Copy and Paste cities.bat %command% into the input box
- Select Ok
- Run the game

Sorry for that problem!

I've extracted the cities.bat folder into my Cities_Skylines installation folder but get the attached error on startup. Launch options have been set (removed: -noWorkshop -disableMods).

I moved the cities batch file up into the Cities_Skylines folder, seems to have done the trick. I noticed that the Launch Options line didn't like it when I tried to include the -noWorkshop -disableMods commands, is there a trick to including both (assuming I need to use this batch file to open the game forevermore)

Just leave a space between each separate command there.
