"immediately upon exiting the loading screen."
--
So you mean after the logo screen and stuff during startup but before the main menu displays, Or do you mean it crashes when you go to exit the main menu to exit the game, or the loading screen while loading a map as it transitions to the game screen?.

First I would ask if anything changed about your system since the last time you played successfully? Installed any other games, system level software (antivirus\antimalware\etc), updated drivers, hardware, or changed video card settings etc, I don't expect you to really know but I gotta ask as it can points to possible causes in the behavior change. ;)

Also the log file in your Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities_Data\output_log.txt might provide some idea of how far it got before it crashed.

If you can't get into the game, can I ask how you're uninstalling mods? You just renaming the workshop folder to disable them all or something?
Does it load with -noWorkshop -disableMods in your launch parameters? What about with --force-d3d9 (this might avoid some new video card driver issue that maybe popped up, or if you were already using that switch try without it) or with forcing a specific resolution?

Could try *backing up first* (else lose milestones and game settings stuff) and then killing %User%\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\ gameSettings.cgs and userGameState.cgs maybe they got corrupted.

I'm sorry I should have described that differently-- I mean the other loading screen, post-menu. I can get through to the menu, select a game to load up and I get a loading screen, the crash happens when THAT screen is finished and I enter the city.

I haven't installed any other games, but I did update Ad-Aware antivirus today. I'm not familiar with how to insert the other stuff you mention.

Looks like you got various asset's that could be causing issues in the log and 20 mods loading, god only knows which specific one is causing the problem for that map.

You add the launch options by right clicking in steam on CitiesSkylines, then select property and the launch options tab, type in --noWorkshop -disableMods.
Start your game, load a new map. If clean map loads, then you know it's an asset or mod (or both) causing the issue (you can then remove the launch options and restart and you'll need to work through semi trial and error in finding which is the cause, there sort of hints to which assets be a problem in the log you posted(where you see the asset load followed by nasty messages) .

Well you were right, it was a bad asset. Not sure which one, but I deleted those I'd downloaded since the game last worked and --presto! Functional city! I guess KLM 737s just weren't meant to land at my airport...For future reference, is there any way short of trial and error to figure out which assets might be corrupt, or corrupt the game?

Thanks for the help y'all. Happy building.

I'm happy to hear you found the cause and thing things worked out for you. Just in time for some After Dark play. :)
