Hello everybody!

Stellaris has been one of my favourite games since its release date. I really enjoy how all the 4x features play out and the game's depth and diversity of choices when it comes to creating a civilization.

However,

One area that the game is lacking in my opinion, is space battles. The particle animations are nice and the ship models look fantastic, but I often find myself zooming down to individual ships in order to enjoy the battle. Sometimes, especially when the stakes are high, I wish I could just watch the battles from the ships' perspective and experience the space opera drama unfold before my eyes.

To the point then: I believe that a cinematic battle camera for space battles would greatly benefit the game and enhance the level of immersion. Star Wars Empire at War, is a game that featured such a mode and it offered some of the most spectacular space battles that I can remember. If a similar mode could be integrated to Stellaris battles, it would offer a completely new way of experiencing the game. Players could take a break from micromanaging their empires and enjoy a huge space battle for a couple of minutes. They would also grow more attached to their fleets and personalise them adding the the immersive experience.

So this is my humble suggestion. Let me know if you agree or not. What other feature regarding space battles would you like to see implemented to the game?

Thanks for reading this post

Double click on a specific ship and you can zoom in way further and will focus on that ship. It also gives your camera a far greater range of rotation, and you can even look at the battle from underneath.

Combine the above with Wide Fleet Formation (a mod) for full submersion in your fleet.

I know about this feature. The one i propose is a completely cinematic one though, jumping from ship to ship automatically, even for small fighters. Like watching a movie :D. There could also be "fixed" camera positions which give another way to overview the battle from new angles.

It was a neat feature of Empire at War. And it would actually work even better in Stellaris since the battle's are completely out of the players control anyway.
