Hello
I am making this thread because of tons of other new ones being posted almost daily, and sometimes mentioning quite necessary additions to the game.
I'd like to make it easier for CO Developers to go through the suggestions and requests of the community, putting here the bigger,
community approved ideas.
CO, please tell me if this is useful
Also, if you wish, you could maybe edit this post to mark the implemented features, or the rejected suggestions.
To the community: I am likely to not include all big things here, so if something is missing, just PM me and I will edit the list. And remember, this
is just a list of suggestions, so anything can be rejected if the Devs don't wish to implement a certain thing for some reason.
The "checklist":
- Seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter) with weather changes and effect on transportation;
- Intercity railways (non-player) and airports, as we haven't seen those so far;
- New vehicle sounds [they really need replacement for new, good sounds. Also the door sounds are pretty annoying, especially with trams and metro trains. The trams and metros need nice electric vehicle sounds, and neat door sounds] and possibly another "click" sound as you could get annoyed with the original "menu click" sound in CiM1;
- In cooperative multiplayer, a possibility to point out things on the map for your partners, and show them some basic drawings on a planning map snapshot (lines, arrows, dots would be enough), so that your buddies know what you're talking about and so that you can organize better in your company;
- Special events like concerts, sport events, etc. with an ability to set special transportation just for the day(s) they happen [if this hasn't been included yet];
- Third rail along metro tracks;
- The game generating not only buildings through the gameplay, but also parks, riverside areas, and other leisure places, as well as simply setting buildings in a distance from bigger roads in the suburbs [for example a block of flats and a 4-lane road should have some space in between, covered e.g. with treees; on the contrary, detached houses should usually be right next to a road, especially if it's a 2-lane road (1 lane in each direction)]; street trees in the city centres would also be nice to see;
- Passengers not assigned to certain lines, but to a certain destination stop (or multiple, if the cim's destination happens to be between stops of different lines, or something), so that they take the quickest connection they are provided - e.g. if there are two lines sharing a part of their routes, a cim should take the line that arrives first, if he/she wants to travel on the shared part;
- [Added 11.03] Cims' satisfaction with our services depending also on interchanges (if the given cim has to wait long for his first connection, and then also for another one, he/she is likely to get even more unhappy than waiting long for a single connection; but then again, a cim is also likely to get fully happy if he/she gets a quick and convenient interchange, even if he/she waited a long time for the first connection; this has been also explained in THIS topic);
Requests with less demand, but also common through the community:
- Light railway as another mode of transportation [using possibly diesel trains, smaller in capacity and length, having smaller (only ground-level) stations than metro but being able to enter metro tracks, tunnels and metro stations, accelerating slower but with higher maximum speed; for carrying passengers on long distances];
- Tram catenary [would need to be separate from trolleybus catenary, and also to be held on suspension wires between buildings in the city center, so that involves some work];
- Both single- and bi-directional trams, the second ones also able to use dead end terminuses besides of loops;
- Underground walkways, underpasses [connecting metro stations, or tram stops, or just two sides of a road];
- Sharp catenary wires on bends and intersections, not bending and like floating in the air with no suspension on the bends;
- Depot attachments [a depot should have a vehicle limit, and then we could attach a yard so that we could store more vehicles there];
- A convenient system for downloading mods for multiplayer gameplay, to make it easier to join modded servers;
- A wider variety of buildings for the maps, so that our cities get a nice feeling [not like a concrete jungle ;-)]
- Buying older, used vehicles, affordable for a starting company, with worse parameters than brand new ones;
As I mentioned above, please tell me by PM if any bigger suggestion or idea is missing and I will update the list. Also tell me if it's useful (that's mostly a question for CO)
