Hi guys,
I was trying to the chrysanthemum throne achievement and did well so far and opened war against Japan as Takeda. I heard that I have to full annex Japan in one single war in order to do open that achievement. However, at the end of the war I noticed that it's impossible to full annex them.
I also notice that if I just get couple of land and don't pick the option for independence, I can still remain as daimyo for Japan. Should I do that way and wait for next war or it is already over for me ?

cb_annex seems to be bugged currently, the various Japan / Daimyo specific CB's don't work as they should. Same for the Ottoman specific "Annex Mameluks" CB/mission.
Normally they should hard cap total annexation cost at 100% WS, but right now they calculate WS cost normally. You will need 2 wars to annex Japan because of that.

I did it on 2 wars, then I became the Japan, still no achievement triggered, I thought that's because one daimyo left on top of the Japan, next I annexed it as Japan and united Japan decision triggered however no achievement happened I'm really disappointed right now I lost my last 3-4 hours on this and don't know what I did wrong ? ( The reason because of that one daimyo left, because they got their independence before I became the new Japan as Takeda )

I did this achievement today with Uesugi. You need to conquer the Ainu (island to the north of Japan) and Ryukyu (tiny island to the south of Japan). You should get a mission to conquer Ryukyu to get a casus belli on them.

OMG, I was really on disappointed on EU4, now I will try what you suggested and let you informed but are you sure that achievement opened right after Ryukyu and Ainu ?

Actually, I conquered them before dealing with the last daimyo. But I didn't annex Japan in one war either, so I'm sure that will not prevent you from getting the achievement. Also, Ainu and Ryukyu are reall
y easy targets so you shouldn't have any problems doing it. Good luck

Yessss, I did it...
The main reason is I have to conquer all of Japan territories which included Ainu territories north of the Japan but not included Ryuku...
Thank you for your help if you did not say that I would delete my save game...

Ah, didn't know Ryukyu wasn't necessary. Well, it's a nice little province anyway. Glad to see you got the achievement
