Puuh,

1. Update your windows to so that it does not want to update anything more ( http://www.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/ )
2. Update your drivers, (motherboard and craphic card)
3. Reboot
4. Clean your comp with ( http://www.ccleaner.com/download )
5. Reboot
6. make sure your C: drive has more then 20% empty space in it
7. Play the game

? if it still stutters and lags, then you have something really wrong with your hardware, like memory or cpu or motherboard.

Motherboard ? what model is it ? i can check if it has any reported problems if you give me the model.

yea i can do this stuff, but i'm sure it's not the hardware ;)

btw tnx bro for your time :) :) :) :)

If you don't have the 64 bit version of Windows XP, you can only use 4 GB of RAM from all sources, including your graphics card. Plus, you must take into account the addresses for all your various devices, and you suddenly get less than 4 GB of RAM.

I'm well aware of that (I only have 3.25GB effective RAM) but thanks for pointing it out

My game is lagging like hell. No patch ever changed that. But its lagging only in the close view where you can see every division. In the far away zoom it is smooth.

Observing my system resources it shows me that my cpu is causing the laggs when i scroll to another position (not zooming in and out) in close view.

setting other priorities or use fixed cores doesn't have influence on that problem. Anybody an idea to fix the problem? Right now its unplayable.

my system:
CPU: E6600 @2.8GHz (quad core)
RAM: 4GB
Graphics: Nvidia 9800GTX
OP: Windows XP SP3 32bit

So my system should handle the game easily. But it doesn't. :(

ahh yes, misread.

It seems the game might need full 4gb of memory to work well.

But even i have scroll problems when i have full speed on the game and its been running like 30min+, it like jumps a screen at a time so i need to pause the game to move my cam to other position.

or if i use arrowkeys then its better. even with fullspeed.

just what reads in gamersgate :

System requirements
# Operating system: Windows 2000/XP/Vista
# Processor: Intel® Pentium® IV 2.4 GHz or AMD 3500+
# Memory: 2Gb RAM
# Hard disk space: 2 GB Available HDD Space
# Video: NVIDIA® GeForce 8800 or ATI Radeon® X1900
# Sound: Direct X-compatible sound card
# DirectX®: DirectX 9

, i assume the patch 1.2 makes the Memory need go up a bit.

Lags killed this game for me. Patch 1.1 was far better in this matter. Now i have big lag at 23, 2, 8-9 and 15-16 hour. Game stops and do nothing. HDD is not working. Just some stupid CPU calculations are made. And no with patch 1.1 i didn't have those lags. And my PC is capable to run everything else with ease. So this patch seems to mess HOI 3 even more. Sad.

so if we have 3.25 we are screwed

I really dont know, i can test the game in my Vista 32bit that has 3.25gb memory if you like, i can report my findings in 4h or so. @ work atm.

Majority of stutter and lag in games, is just the total cumulative things that lags computers.

-nondefragged HDs
-old drivers
-nonupdated windows
-problems with motherboard and its chipset being crap
-100 000 old files in C drive from old games that just are ther doing HDs life harder
-bad antivirus program or a good program but its configured wrongly
-some programs that are active on your right hand corner, ie nokias tools for cells make some comps behave real wierdo.
-a troijan in computer makes your computers performance drop A LOT, and the bad thing is the more troijans you have the more it eats your computers performance

there is like endless amount of things that effect your computer and how it works, it really is a big job to keep a computer 99%+ efficient all the time.

No... I have 2 GB RAM with a WinXp SP3 32bit and the game runs without paging file and uses about 1 gig of the RAM. I have more than 25% of my RAM free while playing it. 1 GB used by Hoi3 and about 512 MB used by WinXp.

System: 2x1.6 GHz, 2 GB RAM (DDR2@666mhz), Geforce 7400 Go, WinXp SP3 32bit

I have only some small lags at highest game speed if its goes to '39 and the war starts. But at this time I don't use the highest game speed anymore. There are too much things to do at this time of the game.

32bit yes but fresh save game. Well i must mess with files some more and do same settings like in 1.1 for less lags.

Owww and btw my specs:
C2D 1.86@2.24
4gb of ram (800mhz)
GF8800GT (512 ram)
and fresh install of win 7 RC
So go and start guessing what cause my game to lag in late 1939 ( playing as GER)

Hi,

i also had massive problems with lags in 1.2 after i startet a new game (1936).
In 1.1c the performance was a bit slow but i had no lags (played until 1943)!

Then i looked in the savegame-folder and there seems to be a huge problem when starting new games after your already played an old save.

Savegames for new games seems to "include" the old savegame too.
I mean the old save which i played before starting a new...

Here you can see what i mean...
Left pane contains the old saves. The last 4 saves (on top) are the saves after starting a new game!

On the right you can see a save of a new game AFTER i moved the old savegame files to another directory and restartet HOI.
Nice and small 11MB and the gameplay is much better than with the 80MB saves :)

Good look ;)

Ok I have another idea - will just reinstall whole game. Delete all folders. Then I will make fresh install and do no moding. Maybe then I will have really smooth game play. Anyway thx for all help. Game is still mess but bit closer to perfection.

Personally, my big gripe was with interface lag when messing about with leaders, which is fixed!

Your's is fixed? Mine isnt.
